I feel Gear series is tricky because I feel like there are different fans for the first game and then for 2-3. I do feel Gears worked best when it had horror elements like in the first game. I do feel the new Gears trilogy made the same mistake star wars did by being too attached to the the original trilogy. I hope this is the last gears in the current trilogy and if they want to go back to series for a mainline game then they need to go to a place far away from original trilogy.
Also for multiplayer I donāt feel Gears is user friendly, so it will never have the power to keep a healthy population. I think the main issue with multiplayer is you canāt really pick up and play Gears, which makes people hop off it quickly. Also the progression system in the latest games have been awful every iteration and they havenāt really created a great hook for their progression system to make people jump back in
Baffles me that they took an absolute complete story and just said NOPE. It made all the sacrifices and moments of the original irrelevant by bringing back the enemy we seemingly spent 3 games destroying.
They really need to detach the online and the story like Halo Infinite did and make a push with the PVE aspects which would be much more user friendly than the traditional PVP mode.
yeah, I think F2P route for Gears MP could help it, but they really need to go back to the drawing board for their MP. I donāt think mechanics wise it will be able to be a popular multiplayer game with staying power. However, I guess if they create a solid progression hook and not an awful system like Gears 4 and 5 then maybe there is some hope.
I do wonder if they should focus on coop PVE mode like I remember back in the day how big Horde was, but felt they never expanded on that like how COD does with Zombies. Itās funny I believe Horde was made before zombies, but like I said they didnāt really do anything to expand it and probably lost their audience for that
@Bastian It doesnt have to change but it will continue to be irrelevant to the masses then and carry on its more than evident decline. When was the last time people brought up Gears of War as a gigantic franchise? I dont think people have cared since the 360 and the proof is that we have gotten 3 games from The Coalition and maybe the only one that caused any kind of interest was a remake of the first game.
Gameplay was a selling point but not anymore because at this point has been copied and surpassed by a lot of franchises by now but I dont really think this is the problem in the series (To ME).
Its neither of these anymore. Aside from launch numbers being high (thanks to game pass) Xbox has not acknowledge any single milestone for it nor is the game talked about by anyone besides us lunatics. Gears is behind a handful of games like the following just from Xbox alone:
Halo Infinite
Forza Horizon 5
Minecraft
Skyrim
Halo MCC
Forza Horizon 4
Fallout 4
Fallout 76
Elder Scrolls Online
Its not present in the Top 50 behind notable āflopsā like Ghost Recon Breakpoint and Avengers. It being #11 in Mexico isnt enough lol.
If xbox wants to pour millions of dollars into cutting edge tech games that are going to be played by less and less people then let them be and we will continue calling it out. Games need to have engagement and stuff like Gears which is purposely designed for that with Horde, Multiplayer, Escape and a full campaign mode is kinda not doing enough to bring in new people and keep them irrelevant of it being for āhardcoreā gamers. God of War 2018 is not the same game or genre from the earlier versions and look how that turned out. One of the most critically acclaimed games of all time.
It absolutely is the same genreā¦itās an action/adventure game as the rest of the series, changing the camera doesnāt make it a different genre. And Iād say that itās weaker/simplified in some aspects when compared to the previous games (set-pieces, puzzles & platforming). Before you jump to any conclusions though I still really like the game even though GoW2 is still my favorite.
Also I donāt drink any kool-aid, I think that Gears 4 was pretty good considering it was their first take on the series and that Gears 5/Hivebusters are both really great games and both showed a big improvement over Gears 4 in key areas like combat encounters (which is the most important thing IMO in a game like this)ā¦thatās my opinion and not a kool-aid drinking contest.
Gears better not copy Halo Infinites battle pass for the next entry lol. I wish the Halo battlepass was more like Gears 5. Free for everyone but you can pay to speed it up.
yeah but this thing is not working, the same formula wonāt cut it even for MP, i mean look at GOW 5 even with GP the MP Players declined in less than a year.
MP as right now canāt attract new players or even keep it player base
ahh you mean whole new trilogy. wasnāt there rumor on Resertera xbox studio thread about them expanding this story trilogy and it will not end with GOW 6 ? i think it safe to say these plans are scraped with studio changes and GOW 5 performance . we will have wait and see for that
