All of these ideas sound great and I would love for them to come true but you don’t want Gears games, you want The Coalition games. Which is fine, I also want The Coalition to make other games but I don’t want the essence of Gears to change, I just want it to improve.

crazy thing is rts srpg gears tactics is as far removed from gears of wow as a racing game still everyone says “we still want regular gears tps” what can you do. ip is fire. probably do better then forza horseon 5 on next game

yeah MS will probably give them more time for GOW 6 and their smaller scale game will come out in 2023/2024

Personally, I’d have no problem adding more of a horror feel and a darker theme to Gears, I would hard pass out of the series in a heartbeat if it actually became a bona fide survival horror.

I find the genre utterly boring. The ‘suspense’ they trade in is generally “when is there going to be some gameplay?”.

Gears is an action game. You can add suspense and a darker theme to a game and still have it be an action game.

I guess you are talking about modern horror games like Amnesia and Outlast who are pretty poor mechanics wise, old school survival horror games are much richer in that aspect (inventory management, puzzles, constant decision making e.t.c.).

Closest I’ve got to enjoying a survival horror game was Resident Evil 4, and I would argue that is more of an action game with horror stylings.

I’m just more of an action-oriented gamer. If people find doing nothing or doing admin ‘suspenseful’ rather than boring, more power to them. I guess it also depends on whether you actually scare or not, because if you don’t it’s doubly boring. But it’s all a matter of taste.

I just think it would be a mistake to take an action game and turn it into a survival game. I doubt I would be the only customer they would lose overnight.

Honest question, do you like the series? because by some of your suggestions and the way you talk about the series it seems that you are not a fan.

As I said it’s not nothing, you constantly make decisions in old school survivor horror games. Unless everything besides action/shooting is no gameplay which is a weird thing to say.

Anyway as I said earlier in this thread survival horror is not a way that I would like to see Gears go so I agree on that as action, gore and set-pieces are a huge part of the series from the start. Darker tone like Act II of Gears 1 absolutely yes though, that would be cool.

hoping for the best really, I love the mechs and the universe of Gears, the gameplay not so much right now, but I believe the team will find some way to evolve it, sooner or later.

I think anybody here likes Gears but as for myself Im not drinking The Coalition cool-aid for Gears or am I blind to the decaying state and relevancy of the franchise. Saying this as someone that has the Gears OT as one of the best ever.
