To be fair the ps5 and xsx reach 900p in that mode.
Of course they are a meaningful metric, they have always been and always will be. If they didnât matter graphic cards designers wouldnât strive for more with each new card. Number of TF is the absolute metric of power in every computer part.
Especially when comparing the same architectures.
YEAH Sure but this is 120FPS i can understand that. but lower than 720p ? series s wasnât meant for 3d 120 hz gaming. like i said just remove 120hz from XSS
Why do you keep accusing people of being trolls? Some people are not happy with the performance on the world most powerful console and nothing wrong with that. We are fans/costumers not blind fanboys.
Just ignore him.
Whats grinds my gears is that people are concerned about the performance without even playing the game. I played Dirt 5 to its completion and it was gorgeous and fun. But since there is a video saying that the PS5 version has a slightly better framerate that means that the Xbox version is unplayable. What gives?
People complaining about the 120 Hz mode without even owning a compatible TV. The Series X runs Rocket League, Modern Warfare and Squadrons at 120 FPS. The PS5 doesnât. Does the PS5 suck because of this?
It sets a mighty terrifying precedent when all third party games donât perform as well as the âweakerâ of the two consoles. It feels like a very rushed product.
But how weaker is it? Letâs see the performance mode summary:
Frame Rate / Performance Mode
- Targets 120hz w/ dynamic scaling.
- 900p to 1440p avg on PS5/Series X
- Detail level on PS5 is significantly higher than both Xbox versions in this mode
- Cars detail, geometric detail, grass, tessellation, environmental geometry takes a big hit on Xbox consoles.
- DF theorizes this is likely a bug. They have been told the developers are looking into it.
- Feels very very smooth.
- 120hz mode is very smooth by and large, PS5 has performance dips on a specific type of track.
- XB Series X feels the smoothest here and VRR makes its performance flawless.
Details get a big hit on Xbox, which is likely a bug and developers are looking into it. Nonetheless, the Xbox version feels the smoothest and the performance is flawless.
Let me put it in another words: in the PERFORMANCE mode, the Xbox version has the better performance.
And letâs not forget: the games are made by the developers. If the developer fails to optimize a game to its fullest, Microsoft canât take all the blame.
Not to forget Rocket League, Modern Warfare and Squadrons hitting 120 FPS on Xbox and not on PlayStation.
It is not the end of the world, people. We can be disappointed by the results on some games. But to say that the Xbox is a failure?
It can be patched later to fix it. lol
Letâs not blame the developers. Its obvious this is a MS issue if it is persistent across games, developers and engines.
And you just choose to ignore the rest of my arguments?
Let me repeat: Xbox has the best performance on performance mode!
Most of the issues are with a 120fps mode. Almost nobody out there has TVâs at 4k capable of doing 120fps yet. Both consoles are rushed in their own right. Launches always are, particularly with COVID being so problematic.
I mean you mention that they âthinkâ its a bug. Ok, I value their input but its input, nonetheless. An educated guess.
And iâm happy the game performs well with VRR, something almost no body can take advantage of.
It is okay to be disappointed that the most powerful console is currently underperforming its competitor in some respects in a selection of multiplatform titles available at launch. But it is also important to keep in mind what Digital Foundry continues to emphasize, that this year was a very unique console launch for both Sony and Microsoft due to the circumstances and that software support for both consoles will improve over time. The key is that games look and run much better and load much faster on both PS5 and XSX than their predecessors and will improve over time. This thread needs to relax and go play some games.
Would give PS5 a one-year head start. A PS5 sale is a lost sale for Xbox until price drops and such make owning both consoles more viable.
And also nobody can take advantage of 120 FPS aswell.
And while they think it is a bug, they have also been told that the developers are looking into it. If it was meant to be this way the developers wouldnât have to look into anything.
Nah MS share big part of the Blame they send the devkits late and tools arenât optimized
Re 120fps, that true and a good point. But one is a feature MS marketed and canât see to do as well as what they marketed as the weaker console, and one is a bandaid solution that asks the consumer to pay for their mistakes.
They didnât say that at all. They said they would divulge their findings with them. They said nothing about the dev fixing it.
I can only speak for Valhalla but it has terrible issues that have nothing to do with 120fps. The game looks , at best, like an Xbox one x game , has lots of tearing and drops frames like crazy.
This is where MS should have just paid a developer like Crytek to have something ready for launch , even it was average in terms of gameplay. People want to be impressed when they buy a new 510⏠console,
the tearing also can be found on XOX Version i wonât be surprised if they just ported the XOX Version and did little makeup on it for XSX Version.
