Games Analysis |OT| Time To Argue About Pixels And Frames (And ProgStopper’s Choice in Movies)

Compared to Terminator 4/5/6, Terminator 3 was a classic. Of course, they all suck compared to the original 1984 Terminator and 1991 Terminator 2.

If u don’t wanna talk about it , dont talk about it.

It’s been a while but I don’t remember it being that offensive to me. It was better than Salvation and Genesys, but I’m torn on Dark Fate.

Dark Fate had some interesting ideas that would have been better if I hadn’t seen them before in the worse movies. Also they did John dirty.

But I love Mackenzie Davis as Grace, so the movie is “passable”.

If I had to choose from memory = 3 > DF > Salvation > Being of Fire > Genesys.

Like I said it’s been a long ass time since I’ve seen T3, but T3 had interesting ideas and a ballsy as hell ending.

Plus Arnold still looked good and they didn’t need to invent some bullshit about aging to cover up his age.

Fuck it, I’ll go.

This movie is criminally underrated and underappreciated. It’s almost-as-good as the first one, and despite the “same movie again” approach, really expands upon the lore and feel of the world.

Even moreso today where people cry “fake news”, it now makes more sense how a giant 80-foot marshmellow man can appear at the same time as blowing up the demonic temple highrise of a New York apartment building and nobody would believe it actually happened.

Mix in with a wonderful message about how the way we treat each other affects the world around us (The pink negative mood slime empowering Vigo) that is relevant today as it was back then, even more so.

A truly great underappreciated classic and a real underdog sequel.

9/10.

I only trust DF when it comes to most of those things. I do appreciate the like for like direct comparisons though. Anything else I’ll go with DF-only personally.

I think that’s a bit unfairly harsh. If I’m not wrong the one case with such discrepancy DF themselves said they were not sure of the actual resolution because there were signs of reconstruction.

And overall his videos are just like for like, side by side comparisons with not much comment except for some more obvious differences

DF Article @ Control Ultimate Edition's photo mode doubles up as a ray tracing benchmark | Eurogamer.net

Control Ultimate Edition’s photo mode doubles up as a ray tracing benchmark PS5 and Series X put through their paces.

Just when we thought that our coverage of Remedy’s Control for next generation consoles was complete, we received a curve ball. Twitter user Another LED pointed out that the game’s photo mode also serves to unlock the frame-rate, eliminating the 30 frames per second cap of the graphics mode and opening the door to direct comparisons of ray tracing performance between Xbox Series X and PlayStation 5. The results are intriguing, though perhaps somewhat academic.

To put it simply, dipping into Control’s photo mode freezes the current game scene and allows you to navigate around with a free camera, letting you pick your best shot at your leisure. No changes are made to the game’s rendering settings in the transition from gameplay and those settings are also the same between PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X. So, basically, unlocking the frame-rate and ensuring that neither of them hits 60 frames per second (which effectively caps performance) opens the door to a benchmark of sorts - a like-for-like, no holds barred look at how Sony and Microsoft’s new consoles power through some exceptionally demanding workloads, rendered by one of the most forward-looking and technically impressive engines on the market.

Lol isn’t that twitter user a huge console war fanboy

What’s the tldr (didn’t watch) on this?

Series X on average is 16% better performance with some spots showing a 20+% increase in performance.

So roughly along the lines of the compute difference in terms of ray tracing then.

There is some massive salt in the comments of that latest video

Its going to be even more in the coming years. Once the GDK and its tools mature to where the PS tools are at.

Okay, now Control UE definitely goes to the “Series X > PS5” group.

If we’re moving on from talks of conspiracy theories, let’s keep it in the past and that goes for everyone. Criticism is fine and one thing, but talks of agendas, conspiracy theories, or insinuations of bias are not going to be had in this thread.

Please don’t post anything from that guy here.

Thanks.

Agreed. I appreciate the effort here, and he’s fine sometimes, but he has been wrong on the pixel counts far too many times.
