Games Analysis |OT| Time To Argue About Pixels And Frames!

They had Pre release gold copy of control on both systems. But not when Alex was recording that video. It takes a while to make these things. And capture footage. For the purposes of that video they used non final code. Which they only had for PS5.

I mean they had to pick a version to benchmark ACV on - were they going to pick the one Alex had a horrible one with frame counting since it was tearing more or the one at the time that was running better? It’s fairly obvious why they chose it.

End of the day whether they do it for popularity reasons or simply because of circumstances doesn’t matter. They aren’t biased they just do what they want to. They aren’t a public service.

He said Tom was working on that video when he did his narration for this video. Of course they had both versions when Alex made his video. Otherwise he wouldn’t have said that. Pre-release doesn’t mean non-final code btw. It also isn’t just a matter of what version you have access to, as I explained already. The issue isn’t the video content shown but rather the avoidance of mentioning XSX in the narration as well as the title framing PS5 as being synonymous with ‘the’ next gen version.

Why are you arguing about frame tearing and framerate when the video was about comparing graphics settings only, and not performance?

Neat, now apply this to literally any other press outlet in existence and we can all agree the press is immune from bias! Hurray! Ya did it! You fixed journalism! :expressionless:

You should read my points before responding. You are responding as if you think I called them biased against Xbox. I didn’t. If you think chasing clicks isn’t problematic then argue that position instead of hedging between saying they aren’t doing that on the one end and conceding that it’s ok if they are on the other.

You are deliberately misunderstanding the time it takes to capture footage and record the video. It’s pretty well explained. When Alex was finishing the video they were at that point making a video with gold footage to compare PS5 and XSX. But previously as he was capturing they only had Pre release PS5 version. Yes they could have waited for gold release but they did that for the comparison.

Huh? I’m saying Alex can comment on both versions of Control because they had access to both the instant he was making his narration. Has nothing to do with capturing the footage and editing it together. The footage is not relevant to the point I was making, which is that ignoring the XSX version entirely both in the title and in the narration/coverage while highlighting next gen features of Control is misleading to audiences, as it suggests the PS5 version is the only next gen version there is. I dunno where you got the idea I was saying anything about video footage…? And in today’s head to head video they reiterate that they definitely did have both versions available when Alex was making his video during the pre-release period. They even had time to contact Remedy about some XSX issues they were having.

Do you think it’s fine for DF to prioritize chasing clicks and engagements over balanced coverage? If so, that seems wild to me but we can just disagree and move on.

This thread is starting to remind me of this.

If the next gen consoles, get tech as good as DLSS 2.0 its going to be like getting a mid gen refresh but with software.

Is that not what DirectML is for?

Yup DirectML would be Xbox version of DLSS. Can’t tell how performant it will be compared to dlss, but I feel it will be the biggest factor keeping end of generation games 5 to 6 years from now closer to the “4k 60fps mark”.

Only issue with xbox version seems to be some frame drops compared to ps5 due to the former running code at less resolution.

SeriesX is a beast!

Though most of the PS5 issues look to be software related.

This guy has been so wildly inaccurate in the past…its hard to take any analysis he does as accurate in my view.

Especially pixel counting…which nowadays is hard but he almost always comes up with a different number to VGTech/NXGamer and Digital Foundry. He also often has claimed difference in graphical settings that close analysis shows is not the case.

Not saying he’s wrong here or whatever…just that…I don’t think he’s reliable. Watch his past videos and compare his results to others.

I fucking hate this movie.

I HATE IT.

It had such a cool fucking concept and the scene where Jim Carrey explains all the instances of the Number 23 was GRIPPING.

Then…

It turns into some kind of dual-identity murder mystery that had nothing to do with the number 23 anymore. The whole supernatural/conspiracy element goes right out the fucking window

Fuck that movie.
