SILENT HILL f Xbox code didn’t exist until launch morning, sadly. Ah here’s an answer.

Thank you Jesse, I am playing Cronos right now so by the time I will start SHf hopefully any problems in the performance mode will be ironed out.

Hard to think of a console that delivered more on its promise than the One X

Battlefield 6 bench marks from Hardware Unlocked. They don’t do consoles, but GPU testing does show how well optimized a game is.

Rich predicts that third party developers will “embrace” this mode

Multiple performance profiles is officially no longer a major hurdle for developers which is holding game development back. Just in case anyone was wondering.

Didn’t agree with every comment but overall thought this was a good video. PS5 is a solid console, PS5 Pro is a miss. Long live the PS5/Xbox Series X level of fidelity.

It’s almost like there never was an issue and the luddites there, the media, and the internet were always full of shit.

Wait this is a developer choice? Is it more like the power saving/shutdown mode on the Xbox consoles or like their “sustainability” tools?

Three weeks ago, Gamer Nexus did a video on a new testing route that they’re planning on adding to their game testing, that looks into Animation Errors and how they change the numbers.

I’m posting this now because the new talk of having AI do QA to replace QA testers (really it should be additive, as QA testers work on a game AI works on others), which makes me wonder, if animation errors could be picked up by AI at all?

I don’t own one so this is just based on impressions, but I’d say the PS5 Pro is pretty darn bad compared to previous console upgrades. The improvements are barely noticeable and it’s honestly shocking that so many games have botched PSSR implementation or are otherwise worse than the base console version. More power to people who appreciate this console but I just don’t get it.

So kind of funny stories with the “botched PSSR implementation” – Sony shipped a PSSR implementation that was different than the one Game DEVS were actually using. Game DEVS had to scramble to get the updates and make several adjustments to make their games look better. It certainly did not look that bad to them. Talk about screwing the launch.

It’s a DF video so I guess they think it was worth it?

As for the 5Pro, imagine buying it to play GTA 6. It’ll be fairly close to next-gen console launch, and that’s even without a third delay to GTA-6. Next-gen should have a baseline of at least FSR4 technology to produce better image quality.

I keep seeing people in the usual places hyping up the upgrades for PSSR or something, because Cerny kept hyping it up a while ago. Wouldn’t shock me much if it turns out to be nothing really special.

If it finally actually release november next year then it likely will be still a full year for next gen. Unless Xbox surprises us all with a 2026 launch. But that I really doubt. I wouldn’t buy a Pro anymore now for that game, but if I had one I likely would because if anyone is capable of taking advantage of the hardware it’s that studio.

But it’s quite crazy seeing what a truly mixed bag the Pro ended up being. It certainly ain’t no One X.

Oliver was pretty down on it if anything. Tom emphasizing the positive as per usual with anything Sony.

interesting, where did you hear this? not that i dont believe you. that sounds like a typical thing sony does to third party devs lol.

I’d also say that when compared to Xbox One X it’s a huge letdown as an upgrade from a base PS5, hell even when compared to the mediocre PS4 Pro is a disappointment so yeah…it’s probably the lack of any meaningful hardware upgrades mixed with the incompetent PSSR implementation/dev tools (like @BRiT already mentioned) and Sony not giving a flying F about releasing Pro patches for their own games (like Bloodborne, The Last Guardian e.t.c.) that all come together and form a pretty disappointing console upgrade proposition.

It will probably end up like the “magical SSD made of hopes and dreams”. :stuck_out_tongue:

BTW since we are in the right topic and I was thinking about it yesterday…I keep reading that Demon’s Souls Remake is a “technical achievement” but IIRC it doesn’t have any form of RT nor it is doing anything noteworthy in terms of resolution/frame-rates (it’s 4k/30fps and 1440p/60fps which is pretty standard fair for this generation) sure visually it looks very good (art direction is a whole other discussion), it runs great and the loading times are very short but…uh…what did it do technically to deserve the title of “achievement”?

To take away technical discussion from wannabe-developers that don’t have a clue what they’re talking about most of the time, I’ve been playing Starfield again across my range of devices (XSS, XSX, Ally X, Ally X w/ eGPU, and PC w/ 9070XT) and that game is a technical marvel to this day. Creation Engine 2 and BGS don’t get nearly enough credit for the absolute scalability of the engine, the insane quality of materials even on Ally X (the weakest of the aforementioned hardware), and the rock solid performance of the engine (on Xbox I’m using the Balanced setting with VRR, and frankly I don’t care about the other modes as I don’t use them).

It’s been nice to see a decent portion of gamers start to realize how absolutely ignorant, biased, and frankly useless games media has become, because we all know if Sony had bought Bethesda, this game and its technology would have been received as the next coming… while it’s not that impressive, it’s far more impressive than the zeitgeist was ever willing to admit.
