Looks like the power connector for the new RTX 4090 are melting, literally! Theres a few YT Videos about this along with posts on Reddit and elsewhere. So if you’re fortunate to have such a beast, keep an eye out.
Seems odd to go with a new power connection to push for 600 Watts when none of the cards draw near that. Most are capped around 450 Watts.
Played and finished the game on Series S and it was a nicely clean image quality, surprised that it’s 900p because I imagined it was 1080p with other IQ techniques implemented. Shows that there’s more to it than raw pixel numbers.
After MSFS we shouldn’t be surprised. Asobo knows their graphics! Truly would be a great addition to XGS, the graphics and the genre they have been making with the two Plague Tale games.
That would be really nice. But hopefully a patch that adds a mode and doesn’t replace/overwrite anything. If the visual sacrifice is too big I will stick to 40fps.
A number of scenes where performances dips on the PS5 seems like it might be memory bandwidth related where transparency effects are heavily used. The Series S seems to suffer from this in spots as well but to a lesser degree due to the lower resolution. The scene with the fire is a good example of an area that would be demanding on bandwidth. If that’s one of the issues, they can lower the rendering resolution to help or lower the resolution of the transparency but that may produce too many obvious artifacts.
Curious on how often we’re going to see 30fps caps with more and more current gen games releasing in the future. I can see a possibility where options for 30/40fps are given more often than a 30/60fps split.
My guess is all three. I’m sure they could hit 60 if they made further cutbacks to lighting/texture/shadow quality or resolution, but the game is pretty cpu heavy I’m not sure that would save it fully. The next gen version of Innocence had a few drops here and there at 60 and this uses much better lighting and asset quality (not to mention the rats).
