Games Analysis |OT| Time To Argue About Pixels And Frames!

I don’t but it either and if someone whose name I can’t mention didn’t want to cover it, then have another member of the team cover it, maybe the Raytracing person, since he loves raytracing. I also don’t buy it doesn’t do anything special tech-wise. You could say that about many games given the DF treatment

Must say mind The Gunk is a nice game that does look and sound lovely

Psychonauts has no RT. The reality is the game is not doing anything special tech-wise. It has been about 4 and a half months. People need to let it go. The thread is not about DF btw. Make your own thread about DF if you guys want to keep bringing them up to focus on them as an entity instead of the analyses they put out.

Yup, and if a game doesn’t do anything unique to push tech forward their video would only consist of nitpicking tiny details that are imperfect. The net result is the video would give the impression that DF is tearing into the game and that it is a disaster from a technical pov, which online gets translated into ‘Psychonauts is a mess and is a shit game’. DF did not want to make a video knowing that would be the end result when they loved the game for what it was. If a game doesn’t focus on the tech, and the tech is neither special nor is it so bad they feel obligated to warn others about it, then there is little point to making a video just to amplify nitpicks that give the wrong impression of the game.

Their comparison video is up for the Matrix tech demo:

Hmmmm…

A 12 watt peak difference I spoted between PS5 and series X during walk around gameplay. PS5 reaches 211w and series X never crossed 200w

Cars scenes are more intense though.

During in game cut scenes, the peak difference I noticed was 160 vs 190… That’s really huge

Not surprising.

And arguably the most optimized game on the series x is gears 5 which managed to push 210W of power at its peak. Im sure the ceiling is around 20-30 W over that.

That’s pretty lame if you ask me. What Does Metroid do to push the tech forward? It’s not even that much of a looker even for a Switch game, pretty much the same goes for Shin Megami Tensei on the Switch or Scarlet Nexus on the consoles ’ just 'making use of Unreal 4. Plenty of games on DF have been covered using Unreal 4 or don’t push the bar out for graphical effects, but there again good looking games is a little subjective

I’m quite amazed Eiden Ring is getting so much praise and coverage for its graphics. It looks even more last-gen than the Halo 8 minute demo and only saved by From’s amazing art direction.

I would imagine DF was just caught a little off guard and didn’t expect Psychonauts 2 to look and play so good.

No doubt about Gears 5

Multiplayer runs 4k 120 on series X

Does it do 4K 120? Its my understanding that it drops the resolution out of 4K to do it.

Doesn’t sound look a huge difference but ideally in the future X takes the top spot.

wat. It is not being praised or held on a podium for its technical graphics by anyone I have seen. It is not a technically impressive game in the graphics dept, and even the devs have admitted as much. There is no need to imagine what led DF not to nitpick Psychonauts 2. They literally told us. You do not know their intentions, motives or thoughts better than they do. Please stop pretending you do.

What an interesting comparison that is about to spawn absolute garbage dialogue.

It felt cherry picked to me, ignoring a bevy of games like Destiny 2 that are flat out a far better experience on the S

True - 60fps there makes it feel like an absolutely different game. But I think this shows just how good the Xbox One X really was as a 4K machine. Xbox came out and proved you COULD deliver 4K visuals for $500 bucks and its pretty much a “norm” now for games.

Yep, and more and more I care less about full 4k and wish for dynamic with an emphasis on faster framerates and more graphical effects. I wish less games on xbox tried to push 4k and instead tried to push for a VRR unlocked framerate mode

Uh… Huh

They know exactly what they were doing with this video.

Pointless comparison, imo and I’ve find funny they have time to make this video, but don’t have time to do others that fans are asking them for quite some time.

Yup!

Yep, the Series S isn’t supposed to be an upgrade to the One X, just to the One S.

Stacking them up against each other will show major inconsistencies since they’re made to achieve different resolutions.

thats with Dynamic resolution scaling, its not 4k native.
