It’s only mentioned in the article and during the video he doesn’t show any visual proof. I found it uncalled for, considering also the fps thing went really smooth compared to other 2-3 fps difference situations, lol.
Anyway, this video confirms VGtech and the Analista analysis.
Big win for xbox, aroound the same resolution delta among ps4 and xbone at slightly higher framerates.
Initial reports said there was 2 big performance updates for gdk this year, one that happened around march and april and one towards the end of the year that would also bring big RT performance uplift. If this is true and with SX already pulling ahead by that margin and with the extra features still largely unused I wonder how big the gap will be going forward.
Watched video. Alex didn’t even mention it in the video. Let alone provide the evidence
I have a firm belief about it, but I don’t want to be warned for it. XD
I understand. I have been through it myself before.
DF talks with devs so perhaps this is something he got straight from the horse’s mouth.
Either way this is clearly a cross gen game using exactly 0 of the series RDNA2 features.
I’ve been saying the gap will become more apparent than it already is for almost a year now; we actually have seen a visible delta if people would read/watch all of the DF videos and not just reduce them to singular points where resolution/framerates are the same. While I don’t expect every third-party title to take advantage of all of the hardware/software efficiency advantages Xbox holds over PS5, I do expect the basic spec delta to be seen, and that’s not speculation on my end because we’ve literally seen this very result the past four years between One X and PS4 Pro.
Now, that delta is more pronounced in some areas and I think it’s more than safe to say that the early issues seen on the Series comparisons were all related to the maturity of the tools, even DF confirmed as much numerous times throughout the last year. Similarly, I think it’s wise that people start looking at some of these other analyses as well; it’s not inflammatory to suggest that we may be seeing a little bit more subjectivity in some of the DF analyses these days. So, like any scientist would, I’d recommend peer reviews as an important metric for objective truth.
It’s noted at the 10 minute mark in the video. Not sure how you guys are all missing that part of the video. That said, I am also unsure what Alex is seeing since when he does the side by side zoom in to my eye I am not noticing anything different between the two.
You guys never stop. The guy doesn’t even cover far cry and you want to make shit up. This is truly your last warning on the subject. Keep it to the tech or stay out of the thread. This has been beyond ridiculous, I’m sick of it.
Far Cry 6 is, for me anyway, a reminder that the outlook for the PS5 and Series consoles is rather bright. As one of Ubisoft’s first real forays into next-gen, we’re seeing double framerates, higher resolutions, and considerably better textures, shaders, and effects (in some cases). Say what we want about their gameplay designs, I think it’s fair to say that Ubisoft is one of the third-party publishers that pushes the graphical boundaries more than most of their peers. As such, it’s a good reminder to see what was achieved last gen; simply comparing the One/PS4 versions of Black Flag to even Origins is a stunning contrast. Given that none of the now-current-gen consoles have the weaknesses that plagued last gen, namely an already-dated and weak Jaguar architecture, I’m looking forward to seeing how further familiarity with the respective tools and hardware, and the accompanying optimizations, will bring an even larger gap in graphical fidelity.
Well said sir!
Is it next gen? Not sure it’s utilising the RDNA2 stuff. Isn’t it just a cross gen game with better textures and 60FPS? It looks nice but isn’t mind blowing.
The shrub on the right have slightly more definition on PS5 and PC.
Alex mentions level Vegetation details…
And the post I replied to mentioned Geometry details.
I believe those two are different things. It’s even more confusing because I visually see no difference at all. Just like you mentioned.
I’m looking forward to this gens Assassins Creed Unity moment (and I do not mean the bugs). Maybe next year Ubisoft will deliver with their Avatar game, that trailer was stunning.
Does anyone remember this?
Have to say, UBI Soft didn’t do the fake 4k advertisement. Kudos to them for keeping expectations in check.
But this aged well
It’s still dynamic 4K on SX. I don’t know what they were trying to imply here, but yeah SX is aiming at 4K, unlike PS5, that’s right.
But to be fair, we are arguing about numbers that don’t say much in the end. 4K Ultra HD, to me, means that the resolution is up to 4K, so higher than 1080p and all the way up to native resolution.
I don’t find it disingenuous to indicate 4K UHD while not really nailing down the resolution ingame. In the end, it’s just a way to tell customers that the game is using a higher resolution, just like HDR means it’s using a wider range of colors, even if in reality, it’s more complex than just resolution or colors.
They are the same thing. The vegetation detail is geometric detail. It is seemingly negligible though imho.
