Think people just need to chill lol, they’ve covered 99% of the first party xbox games in the last 2 years. All of a sudden people are calling them lazy because they missed this one lol ? Man this community can be so insecure at times.
Just a reminder that these are real people we’re talking about here. Try to have some compassion and understanding.
You’re reading into this entirely the wrong way. Even if 8K is possible on the SX, why would a small team with lower resources feel obligated to spend the time on an update very few would notice? Stop taking everything as a slight against Xbox when there are usually more logical reasons behind the decisions made.
And in every one of those videos they left out platforms because it’s much harder to cover every version in a timely manner. You say they don’t owe us anything but then go on to say it’s their job, which implies they owe us something.
This basically falls down to available resources and what they can do with the available time. It doesn’t have to be more than that.
Nobody is calling them lazy, its just an interesting observation. As a PC player I don’t care much about Playstation brand and their remasters unless they come to PC. I love DF tech analysis for the newer games, but its quite interesting that a major release like Psychonots 2 got overlooked, while they had time for remasters.
Nothing to be insecure about when you are just questioning their priorities.
Like we often question/criticize Xbox, I am just questioning DF.
Sadly it looks like we wont be getting any video for this absolutely beautiful and creative game.
Ending the conversation here.
Thing is he explains why it wasn’t done. So those questions should be answered.
I might be mistaken, but it’s strange that PS ports are always maximised to the fullest, while Xbox ones are often botched, I feel the console is gravely underused as of today.
@PCPrincipal They simply know their audience, I agree with them, so I unsubscribed, honestly I don’t give a shit about infinite Swith ports and/or PS remasters.
You are sorely mistaken. Please stop. I really don’t want to start issuing warnings over bogus conspiracy theories.
Warnings? I didn’t say anything inflammatory, come on. Or disagreeing is accountable for warnings?
Anyway you don’t know how much effort devs put into singular ports. If they feel Xbox might be a second rate platform…it’s a business at the end of the day.
I remember in PS2 days when OG Xbox was double more powerful and there were PS2 ports better than Xbox ones, lol. Anything is possible.
I have asked time, after time, after time again to quit it with the conspiracy theory nonsense but some of you keep doing it even though they are not based in reality. You’re only falling for whatever insecurities you have over plastic boxes and it does the thread no favors. You can easily go through their list and see all of the comparisons they’ve made and how few of them have had real issues on any platforms.
What’s a more logical and rational explanation behind the lack of further updates to the Xbox versions: they are a smaller studio that needs to prioritize how their time is spent or they see the Xbox as a second rate platform even though they ported their games to the Xbox platforms first, not once, but twice? Think about that for a second.
Even your OG Xbox/PS2 reference is completely wrong. There was maybe one or two games that had some advantages on the PS2. The OG Xbox had the best version for 99% of the games. I really don’t understand where you get this stuff.
What insecurities, the only PS I did not buy was PS3 because was ugly and abdsurdly expensive in EU, I will buy PS5 when Sony will grace us with a smaller version, lol. Anyway it’s an industry constant they have some grip everywhere and influence things, the only time they couldn’t was 7th gen.
I don’t know, whatever is causing you to have the persecution complex you’ve been displaying over Xbox. Making claims that it’s a second rate platform to some devs, claiming Xbox ports are often botched while the PS port is perfect, and priorities are made for PS games in DF. None of it makes sense when you can easily go back to their previous videos and see how the comparisons stack up. I’m trying to ask nicely to take a breath and try to think about these things rationally.
I’m waiting for the usual botched COD at launch for Xbox, last year consoles were shutting down for weeks before they patched it. XD
Guys, let’s calm down.
Maybe the developer will have an 8k patch ready for Series X version in the near future. If you have questions, you can ask the developer about it.
Make enough noise and they might do something about it.
Cod last year was botched on all platforms at launch in different ways. There is nothing special about the Xbox version in that regard.
I don’t think their engine is optimised enough for the parallelisation which is why the PS5 version can just brute force through 8K.
I am hoping he was joking, at least that’s the way I took that post.
The whole notion that only Xbox suffers problems just isn’t true. The Medium and F1 2022 were missing RT on PS5 at launch and had to be later patched in for example. Studios are just being stretched thin as it is, especially during a pandemic. If people had an idea to what it takes to make these games, they’d realize it’s a miracle we get any games to the quality that we see. These people are performing digital magic lol
To further touch on how much work these types of videos can be, this video took me over 40 hours to make even though I excluded the Xbox One S version. Between playing the parts, trying to line up gameplay, analyzing countless frames between each version, pixel counting a large number of images, and doing A/B/C analysis to figure out the differences, video editing, etc. there is a lot that goes on with these types of videos.
Nothing prevents DLSS from running on XSS/XSX. Just not as rapidly as it does with dedicated hw. ML SR is a thing that MS is using right now internally both for frame buffers and texture upscaling at runtime. The hold up is most likely down to being able to deploy it in the GDK in ways that can be broadly generic and usable for wide classes of art styles.
I’d say expect to see XSX using 1080p internal res upscaled via ML SR to 4k, and something like 640p upscaled to 1080p target via ML SR on XSS by mid-late cycle. I don’t think BW will be as limiting as others do because geo density will be based on pixel density in screen space (a la Nanite and similar virtual geo approaches), and that means BVH structures themselves will start to scale with pixel density eventually, which alleviates the BW concerns for XSS significantly I think. Textures will already be efficiently handled wrt BW by using ML upscaling earlier in the frame time and utilizing SFS.
Absolutely. Wasn’t implying that.
But for now no such ML algorithms exist for the systems, so folks are focusing on the here and now. Maybe we’ll see something come to consoles from the Intel XeSS DP4A stuff – assuming it’s any good and it operates quick enough to provide a benefit.
Care to elaborate?
