Games Analysis |OT| Time To Argue About Pixels And Frames!

Do we know that Judgment is 4K? If it is, I agree that it may be hitting 4K60 because it was designed for last gen hardware, so it’s less taxing.

I also think some of you are downplay Eternal a bit much. The game looks gorgeous and any type of RT at 60fps is impressive.

Thinking about it. RE3 remake may have actually used reconstruction on the One X. I looked at it when capcom dropped the resolution and recall seeing artifacts at a frame switch.

I believe many are looking at Returnal from Playstation’s Big exclusive point of view. So many are giving a hard time to the game.

Game looks good to me. Gameplay has a loop mechanics tied into a narrative. Seems good to me.

I know it has been discussed previously, but games still keep coming out targeting 60fps and even next-gen exclusives, surely developers on the whole can’t row back to 30fps later in the gen. It would feel like such a downgrade and I really do think people will notice it.

I guess they could offer 30fps modes for people who do prefer better visuals, but I think the default mode needs to remain 60fps going forward.

Yakuza: Like a Dragon was designed for last gen hardware as well, seeing it released for PS4 only in Japan back in January of last year. Only improvements for the current-gen were improved frame rate and resolution, really.

But, I don’t think we really know whether Judgment is 4K or not.

THIS. I think that we have hopefully achieved enough interest in better framerates on both of the next gen platforms that there will be outcry on most games that don’t offer at least a performance mode/option going forward.

I would love an uncapped PC mode at 1440p

I will tie it up with a vrr capable monitor

Series X and PS5 are the same with a minor frame rate advantage on PS5.

So no, San Diego didn’t boycott the Xbox version xd

I agree completely. I’ve long suspected this was going to be the generation where 60fps became an expectation, and so far that has been true. There is no going back from here.

I think any dev showing up with a game running at 30 will be mocked for it.

Oops yeah I meant to say that sorry, I must have mixed things up

Prediction, next years version will be 4k60 locked on both. :smirk:

The differences are likely there because san Diego have way more experience with playstation dev environment, there tools are probably geared towards playstation. We know this because the small difference the 1x + pro versions have.

Nier Replicant may be running at 1080p on PS4, PS4 Pro and PS5 on BC.

Xbox One S and Series S at 792p.

Xbox One X and Series X at 1440p.

792p sounds about right for using the One S

while 1440p uses the One X.

Remember these aren’t native versions, they are only running in back compat using the profiles of the One S and One X.

So exactly what I expected to be honest for a 60FPS game on last gen consoles.

Bad optimisation on Xbox One S, the gap between base PS4 is huge and it doesn’t make sense.

Between PS4 Pro and One X is a standard gap we have seen the most times.

Yeah, clearly, they’ve done the bare minimum. Optimising for Xbox One X is cool though, but that’s all they’ve done.

Because there’s going to be a Neir Replicant deluxe next-gen port probably later this year or early next with more content that sets up Neir 3, and it will be $70 bucks.

Just like FF7R.

Search your feelings. You know this to be true.

It seems ridiculous for any game to be coming out 6 months after the launch of the new consoles and not supporting them.

Who cares why? MS made better long term decisions that make xbox versions of games better
