Could be tomorrow. It’s not like there are many days left either way lol.
Ms/Time Warner merger Wut?
Edit, it seems it was a DRM tool from xerox that Ms and TW tried to buy together but the deal was aborted.
So when this clears tomorrow-ish what is left for the deal to be considered official?
Nothing. All their deals closed 2-7 days after EU made their decision.
So could be tomorrow, but more likely is sometime next week.
Except for Nokia which was 2 weeks later (and publicly listed) and Yahoo Search license which was day of. Github, the closest comparitor as a private firm that sold for 7.5 billion closed 2 days after, so my guess (knock on wood) is if not Friday then Monday.
Edit: Sorry messed up. Github week after. I’m still hoping for a close of the deal ASAP.
My first call
That would be a nice way to kickoff the weekend
Jeff Grubb seemed to hint at mid March which would be like March 15
It is 11:14 PM in the EU.
EU is 6 hours ahead of us.
We could know by early morning Friday or Noon EST Friday.
That’s kinda late though, compared to other examples mentioned. But we’ll see, the waiting game continues.
Wasn’t Nokia several months later ? (compared to the EU clearance, otherwise the timeline with Bethesda doesn’t seem very different)
If I’m correct:
Linkedin ($26.2B) in 2016:
- Announcement: June 13
- EU deadline (has been extended following concessions): December 6
- Cleared by EU: December 6
- Completion: December 8
GitHub ($7.5B) in 2018:
- Announcement: June 4
- EU deadline: October 19
- Cleared by EU: October 19
- Completion: October 26
Skype ($8.5B) in 2011:
- Announcement: May 10
- EU deadline: October 7
- Cleared by EU: October 7
- Completion: October 13
Nokia ($7.2B) in 2013:
- Announcement: September 2
- EU deadline: December 4
- Cleared by EU: December 4
- Completion: April 25
It is now 12:38 AM, Friday March 5th, in the EU.
Any moment now
You are correct. They needed approval from China which took longer. Sorry. I screwed up the date format. Here it’s mm dd yy, there it’s dd mm yy so I erroneously saw it as April 12th and not December 4th and forgot it was 2014 not 2013.
Is it really just the E.U and the U.S that have to approve this? So no Japan approval needed?
I’m going to play Fallout 4 to will the deal into completion
