Yeah, the breaking weapons is more of a nuiscance in this game, not ruining the game like in BOTW (worlds most overrated game btw?). It kind of makes sense here that shit breaks, and you can’t really repair a broken pipe hehe.
As for the “vision”… it’s horrible. I’m spamming that awkward button angrily all the time, it ruins the flow so much. gah
With some games I wish 30fps was still acceptable. I remember playing Halo 4 years ago in 30fps and that was fine. But we’ve gotten so used to 60fps with several FPS games on Xbox One and especially even more so with Series X and S with several other genres.
Some games it’s doable though, I’m playing The Medium and it’s definitely not too bad, undoubtedly because of the mostly fixed camera angles. Do you see a big difference between resolution/quality mode in terms of resolution compared to performance mode?
The fps is highly dependent on the type of game, I just played The Medium as well and had no issues with that type of game. Anything relatively fast paced though, or where you move the camera around a lot (The Medium has a fixed camera like you said) needs the higher fps to not become a stutter fest or smeared out mess in most games imho.
I did not see much of a difference in the resolution while playing the game in either of the 30 fps modes, I was busy trying not to puke It’s those stutters, no matter how big or small, which can easily cause a disjointed effect of what motion you expect and what you actually get which causes the motion sickness for me. Especially combined with other things, like headbobbing, low FOV, bluriness etc. which sets it up for the nausea to trigger by the stutters. It’s not always the same though, things like insane camera shake can set it off no matter the fps.
The game looked pretty much the same to me though in all modes, however I did not do any “Enhance!” things on textures hehe. I wouldn’t say it’s a big difference, no. The game looks great in performance mode.
I wanted to go Peacekeepers because I want that crossbow weapon but don’t want to have to choose three previous benefits to get to it so I went with Survivors. They do have better stuff for Parkour so that helps out a lot. I just recently did the second Survivors decision.
I would have preferred that each decision was one and done as opposed to having to go through the entire line to get to say that Crossbow for example. With each decision you have to make, it should lock you out of the previous decision. This way, I could have gone with Survivors 6-1 because I want that Crossbow but not enough to pick the Peacekeepers three previous times just to get the weapon.
I started playing the game on Quality mode and it looks outstanding… Until you get near a group of zombies and the Series X fans go into hyper drive. It’s actually the first time I’ve heard the XSX fans like this. I Changed it to performance it it’s fine. Is the game just not optimised or is quality mode kicking its ass?
And yes my Xbox is squeaky clean and has more than enough room to breathe.
And congratulations to Techland for reaching 3M players in the opening weekend. Definitely expecting 5M+ in sales for February.
Honestly, outside of the audio bug happening three times, I haven’t had any issues whatsoever in almost 60 hours of gameplay so I can’t really complain.
Other than that it’s working fine. Settings for motion blur, and VRR is welcome, but I really hope they can fix the audio bug, that shit is gamebreaking.
At worse, I sometimes get slightly lightheaded in first person games but this could also be due to not eating most of the day. lol
Agree with the audio bug but at the same time, 3 times in what is soon to be 65 hours, it sucks but I can’t complain. Only 1 of the 3 was during a story mission cut scene but I keep subtitles on so more of an annoyance than anything. If it kept happening every few hours, then yeah, I definitely agree.
What missing events at night??? Visual bugs with NPC’s???
The only other bug I have had besides the audio bug is certain enemies can’t be attacked. Like my attacks go right through them. Happened once with the Howler and once with bandits during an enemy encounter but this was after I already killed them and went back quickly because the enemies respawned but im guessing it wasn’t “complete”.
I fired the patched version up earlier and was able to confirm the same type of FPS range with VRR on my Series X, and it absolutely did feel that much smoother than the original 60 FPS locked mode. I will be playing it this way going forward, really glad they added this.
