Those of you who got the game what graphics mode do you prefer? I tried quality a few times with the ray tracing and it does look gorgeous but I can’t give up that 60FPS with performance, the game still looks great.
Welcome to the XboxEra forums and the Dying Light 2 OT!!!
I’m playing on the 60FPS Performance Mode. I didn’t even bother trying the other two modes. lol
I don’t know if anyone has posted this here, but apparently, Series S is “holding back” the Dying Light 2 developers…!!
How bad is this game running on base XB1 then ?
itss weird the game looks really good in a lot of spots like when they do close ups on people faces for cutscenes but other times it looks liek a 360 game with the washed out textures and others it looks amazing. Its all over the place but its still so fun. Game of the year for me so far.
they are adding an unlocked frame mode for series X with VRR in the next patch
Could that mean the resolution of resolution mode and quality mode?
I think they will probably just unlock the framerate for the already 60FPS mode, the game will probably run between 60-100FPS
If the game drops below 40fps then there isn’t really much point because that will below the lowest bounds of VRR.
Yeah, I keep forgetting that those two modes are 30fps only and VRR doesn’t kick in then.
That is very dependent on the display. Some displays can do VRR as low as 20. That’s more on the PC Monitor side.
Ready to start this tonight… Now I’m thinking that maybe I should hold off until it’s patched a bit? How bad is this motion sickness thing? I’m prone to get that in badly made FPS, that is usually in indies with a lack of settings to adjust though. Never really an issue in most big games.
There are no settings for FOV or Motion blur? How is the head bobbing and camera shake?
Yeah, you could hold off since they’re expected to add in a motion blur and field of view options. I don’t get motion sickness so I can’t really comment. The motion blur for me would be the biggest issue as I hate it n every game to where every game should have an on/off option for it. Maybe @Doncabesa can comment on head bobbing and camera shake because I haven’t noticed either and if they are in the game, it’s minimal because these thing do annoy me if it’s overdone.
You can try the prologue and see how it is for you. If it’s not good, then you can wait for Techland to patch the game.
Thanks, yeah I’ll try it and see how it goes. If there is a problem I usually notice within 15-30 minutes or so.
I just hope it’s not on Wolfenstein TNO’s level… I had to pump myself full of meds, herbs and shit to play through that haha.
Yeah, this is exactly what I feared when I read that, it is “one of those games”:
Ah well, I’ll try it myself but godamnit why is is so hard to implement things properly before release? I can play 100’s of hours of proper FPS games like Halo or other games with accessability options without any issues.
They’re patching it “soon” to add in motion sickness reduction sliders, FOV, and whatnot.
I finally got confirmation but there was no day one patch like they repeatedly talked about, what a weird confusing thing.
Yeah, I am about to jump in here so I’ll know soon if it works for me or not.
What I can’t wrap my head around is that if you delay your game multiple time you couldn’t give it a week more, or however long it takes for the “day 1-patch” to arrive, to launch with these things?
This is one of the reasons I hope more of these companies get bought by Microsoft who actually cares about accessability.
Time for some first impressions!
First, the nausea wasn’t too bad thankfully. I was prepared though, so had a lot of ginger etc. on hand. The worst parts are in very tight spaces and some of the cutscenes where you are not controlling the drunk first person camera yourself. Once we can adjust the FOV and get rid of some of that motion blur and camera shake/head bobbing at least the gameplay should be fine. Performance mode is a must though, tried it in 30 fps and that was horrible, I almost puked.
Spent about 4 hours on the game, got the open world to open up. Really liking it so far, the parkour is excellent and the melee combat works very well for a first person game. Not a fan of the breaking weapons… that stuff is just annoying. Biggest issue though is the constant spamming of RS to see things in the environment, that is allready getting old. I hope they do something about that, it sucks. Also, “A” is the jump button ffs
The story seems interesting enough so far, and the city looks fun to explore.
Agree with everything you said. The only exception is that the FOV, motion blur, camera shake and head bobbing isn’t really bothering me like it has in other games. I have looted so many weapons that the durability factor doesn’t bother me. Here’s a tip though - you can repair weapons by attaching a MOD to it but this only works a few times until the weapons breaks and is gone forever. Nowhere near as bad as the first game or especially BOTW. I can attack/kill a lot of enemies before my weapon breaks.
Parkour is great and the combat is excellent. I rarely if ever go after “random events” in games but in DL 2, im trying to do almost every one because I love the enemy encounters due to the excellent combat. I want to fight more, not less. lol
I agree 1000% with RS as the vision. It fucking sucks. I don’t know what they were thinking with this. It’s horrible. All the items/weapons should shimmer/glow like in Far Cry. Really hate the vision mechanic in games and wish developers would stop implementing it. For DL 2, I wish I could change the button for it at the very least.
