Dragon Age: The Veilguard | Review

Just started up this game, likely will be jumping between Veilguard and Metaphor for a bit.

Created my character and likely went against the grain of what people likely creating.

What are the political correct messages? I am not 10h in so I won’t act like what you’re talking about doesn’t exist.

It’s definitely interesting to see how differing the views are on the game.

Dragon Age is the one franchise that never has the same consistency as the first. If you think FF was bad in terms of how fans feeling for each installment, this one takes the cake.

Don’t even know what I am supposed to take away from the second clip

To me its a fun adventure rpg romp. And I like it. Glad to have a fantasy action rpg that is NOT souls like.

Im enjoying this and the simplicity is part of why.

It’s a massive spoiler, weird to see

Well, it’s a good thing that after watching a couple of his videos like 4 years ago, I just don’t click anything he uploads.

Thanks for heads up.

It’s been out for two days. Weird to hate play something for 16 hours that quickly, too.

I only just started the game and about to hit the 5-hour mark, so far really enjoying myself so far. While generally I don’t care about spoilers, this being the first DA game I’m going to actually play through more than the tutorial in, I want to be a little surprised.

Me too. I’ve not seen any major political correctness in this game. I might have missed it as I’m enjoying the game so much.

Fuck, I had no idea. That’s the last thing I want to do. I edited and changed it into a screenshot. No spoiler.

I’m 20+ hours into the game and the complaints I have seen online simply don’t apply to me at least not yet anyway. The story/characters are still good. Is there a little humor here and there? Yeah but it’s not like Guardians of the Galaxy where it’s every few minutes. Combat is great but I do wish it was more fluid and responsive as opposed to being heavy and weighty. At least, that’s how it feels to me and im playing as a Rogue.

I have a few issues with the game, main one right now being that im in an area at level 14 where there’s a ā€œbossā€ not connected to any quest and it’s level 32. I’m like WTF? There’s no level indicator that I can see anywhere on the map. If I knew this level was this high, I wouldn’t have come to this area. Bad enough I had just defeated a level 25 boss which was part of a side quest. I don’t understand why they don’t show you the levels of the quests and areas in the game. I don’t want to be fighting enemies that are 10+ levels above me because I know it becomes a fucking long ass grinding battle to get through and that’s if I don’t die.

And while this applies to games in general, I wish developers would stop including ā€œaddsā€ (meaning minor enemies) while fighting a boss. Every game does this shit and it’s so fucking annoying. Like, why can’t they just let you fight the boss and that’s it. UGH.

After playing for quite a while, I can say this is a more polished and enjoyable experience than Mass Effect Andromeda.

The big thing that distresses me is that this game probably has less opportunity for role playing, in the sense of expressing your own opinions and making my Rook a different person from your Rook, than any previous BioWare RPG, even less than Andromeda. Unlike Hawke, Rook’s different moods feel barely distinct from one another. I just don’t understand how BioWare keeps getting worse at this and it’s making me a bit concerned for the next Mass Effect.

It’s a different team/lead on Mass Effect. I’m sure plenty will move over now but the leads of this title will start working on the thing after Mass Effect.

I know, just the fact that this has now been a problem (as I perceive it, anyway) on both the latest Mass Effect and Dragon Age titles, makes me wonder if it’s not a fluke with a certain team but just the direction that BioWare is taking as a company.

I didn’t find it to be a problem in this game, but I never want to be an asshole in games. As far as Andromeda that story was quickly thrown together after their ā€œmany planetsā€ tech didn’t work out.

I actually like this, because it’s more of a challenge battle and with our companions that kind of makes them less of an issue.

I’m seeing the discourse for this game is gonna be like Starfield where it reviews well and sells well but will have a large hate-base online lol. Enjoying the game so far though!
