Dragon Age: The Veilguard | Review

What a month and year to be a gamer. Can’t wait to play this on the weekend and have to say another wonderful review by the staff here

Bioware is back and people choose to be miserable about it? Jesse, this is why I love you, I love how unapologetic you are about your love for games when so many people seem afraid to admit they like a game or they like it “too much” or whatever absolute nonsense happening these days where stating opinions on games seems like walking on eggshells ffs.

Anyway, thanks for the great work, Jesse. This all sounds like an absolute good time.

I’ve never really dabbled with BioWare. If Starfield is my jam, will this resonate with me at all? Looking for another meaty RPG.

Maybe? BioWare games have a very different flavor than Bethesda, they’re more of a linear story with a lot of emphasis on group dynamics and character relationships.

I might recommend trying Mass Effect Legendary Edition first and see if that gels with you.

Okay so I’m out of the loop here. What is going on with people having issues with the game’s reviews? Reviews are fake/lies, ddos attacks, etc…

“Woke”

It’s so woke It’s goood !

I get the Pixar comparison now but it’s actually a compliment to the overall design, cinematic and atmospheric quality of the game. It’s immaculate.

The only downside is the resolution. It gets fuzzy and blurry in movement even in Quality mode. In fact, the two modes are pretty much the same to me so it is better to play in Performance only for the added smoothness in combat.

Played about five hours of The Veilguard and thus far, it’s great. The combat is a little more weighty and heavier than I was expecting it to be but overall, it’s really good. Environments and visuals overall look great. Story and characters thus far is excellent. The writing and dialogue has been really good five hours in. Love all the customizable options with the HUD and difficulty levels. If anything, im guessing the “bad” dialogue that has made the rounds via clips is probably connected to that one character and part of that character’s quest line and if that ends up being all of it, this will be a total of fifteen minutes out of 50+ hours so it’s not even going to change or affect anything. Overall, really enjoying the game and will dive back in tomorrow.

Really? sigh

It seems the commotion is about a dialogue bit that apparently you can skip altogether if you want. Something with choosing a option to know more about pronouns or whatever it is. Me, I’m not interested in that in games, so I would not choose the option to know more, all fine. It seems the usual ones are making a elephant out of a mosquito. Which is a Dutch saying for basically…making a big deal about nothing, really.

Anyway, I really don’t want to buy this because the backlog isn’t exactly small and buying yet another huge game is only gonna make it worse, but you aren’t making it any easier, haha. It sounds very good.

I got a solid 5 hours into it last night. Not nearly enough to give a full impression but I can already tell this is not a Mark Darrah game. The dialogue, art style, tone of the game doesn’t feel like Dragon Age so far. Doesn’t mean I’m not enjoying it, however I can see how different this is from the previous games.

I see!

That could explain why Matty who is a huge DA fan is so disappointed.

There was also someone that said you can’t be mean in the game, if true, that’s unfortunate. Because while I am anything but that in real life I love to be a prick in games if they let me, do or say the exact opposite of what I’d do or say in real life.

Played a couple of hours yesterday and through it was pretty good, looks much better then previous showings of in progress demo’s/presentations

Think it will fit the bill for a good RPG until Avvowed and Kingdom come deliverance in Feb.

Liked that they jumped on a defined story with purpose right off the bat as a focused RPG can be pretty fun if written well. And so far the writing is good.

I’m at the point where you really just have to ignore 99% of all gaming circles as gaming communities besides this one is toxic as fuck these days. Sad this is another game that gets caught in the chud chamber of nutjobs flipping their shit over every little detail in a game. Heaven forbid other people and communities would be represented in a game of this nature.

Besides that crap which I’m going to ignore so far so good with this one.

After a few hours with the game I can agree with this complaint to a certain extent. It’s not quite as bad as Mass Effect Andromeda where it felt like the game barely gave you any room to define Ryder’s personality… but it’s narrower than in past Dragon Age or Mass Effect games.

I have yet to do any DLC’s for Inquisition. I’m gonna start Veilguard right after.

Yeah, this story concludes the main parts pretty tightly. new content would require an entire new questline to be made from scratch

Oh, this is interesting…

I have a habit of waiting for complete games before diving in (backlogging where it’s mostly content complete and patched up games has spoiled me a bit). Might pick this up sooner rather than later then!

Picked this game up yesterday and the Xboxera review is utterly spot-on. It’s 10 out of 10 in every way. I can’t believe how good this looks and how smooth it runs
