For those looking to play it fresh, I’d strongly suggest treating like an immersive sim and not the standard sandbox style game. It is very much a game where from a short distance everything works rly, rly well and looks and feel incredible, but if ya start looking too close or prodding the npc AI or broader physics systems that illusion can fall apart and really pull ya outta the experience.
Think of it like Deus Ex with a super cool, expansive and detailed backdrop. In that vein, the game is pretty incredible. Writing and acting and how they work with the story presentation are legit some of the best things I’ve encountered in gaming in a very long time.
Agreed and same for me. As of now, im expecting Cyberpunk 2077 to be my 2021 game of the year. Will probably tryout the prologue once I get the Series X just to check it out.
One of the things I love about this game is the way the main & supporting cast of characters react to V during conversations. Depending on what dialogue options I choose, they will smile, frown, nod in agreement, throw their hands in the air & shake their head, etc…
It’s maybe a little thing, but I really enjoy it. Helps with immersion in a big way, like they’re actually reacting to what I’m saying. It’s very well done.
All of the main & supporting characters look great as well, which also helps sell the illusion. Obviously a lot of work went into their character models, bodies & face animations. It’s just really cool.
My friend should be happy since the hotfix 1.05 should hopefully not reset all the settings he has for the game each time he launches the game and should hopefully reduce the crashes he’s had. Around 8 in 40 hours.
Man, the writing in this game is fucking incredible. Plus imo this is a way better game than Witcher 3 because the gameplay is miles ahead of it and I like the cast of supporting characters a lot.
There’s one sequence in a mission alongside Takemura where a cat turns up and a whole grand conversation springs from it that that branches out into soooo much character building and even some untold truths, it’s phenomenal.
I agree to an extent, but ngl it’s still not as good as I’d hoped. For example, one very crucial place where this supporting cast reacting to you breaks down is when you get these episodes chip malfunction and you vomit or cough up like you’re dying, those sections could have had the cast react to you in some form at least, like “hey what’s wrong?” “Holy shit are you OK?”. Like I was deep into conversation with Panam during a mission and I get this episode and she just walks on like nothing is happening. That one aspect of the cast stopping and reacting to your plight would have been honestly perfect, but sadly they missed out on that. There are quite a few more things like this they missed out on, but paid lot more attention elsewhere. And these episodes are scripted events too I think, cuz every time I load up a quick save, they happen at the same exact moments, so I feel that should have had the cast pay attention. This the kinda thing I feel Rockstar would pay attention to a lot, almost to a fault if I must say haha, cuz even though RDR2 npc reactivity is a lot richer and varied, the game itself is nowhere close to being as fun as CP2077 is.
Some photos from the mission I mentioned above. “Gimme Danger” I think it’s called. One of my favorite missions in the game already and I still haven’t done the parade one and whatever else comes next.
This is the first game ever where I feel you are talking to real people, not videogame characters. Atleast with the main cast and some of the characters on side quests too.
The animations, the way they behave while talking to you, this is insanely good.
Think the 2nd patch has improved the game even further. Played a couple of hours today & it was smooth sailing. No issues at all.
Think the city actually seemed a bit busier as well. More people walking around, more cars on the roads. Maybe that was just my imagination.
But… The supporting cast do react to V’s chip malfunctions. At least, they have in my playthrough. Both Judy & Panam have witnessed V struggling & are just worried sick about him. I even had dialogue where they asked what was wrong & I had the option to tell the whole story of Johnny Silverhand & V’s condition.
I could have missed a situation earlier though, when V had a malfunction & someone just ignored it. Or maybe I don’t remember.
Weird, maybe that is the thing tho
The bugs are causing some things to not happen. Not surprising cuz several character animations don’t even play sometimes.
Patch 1.05 has brought great performance improvement on Xbox consoles.
On base Xbox one S - FPS increases by 10 fps on avg. Sadly, it’s still not a 30 FPS experience
Xbox one X - the game is more close 30 FPS now and stays there more then previously. Mission gameplay is now locked 30 with only occasionally 1-2 drop in frame.
Xbox Series S - The experience on series S is becoming flawless. It’s pretty much locked 30 now.
Unfortunately, there is negligible improvements on Xbox series X.
On playstation consoles - performance improvements are negligible. But base PS4 version looks more sharper then before.
