Cyberpunk 2077 |OT| It feels like it's taken 2077 years for this game to release (and might take another 2077 years for it to be fixed)

So surreal that what feels like the latest episode of “gamer drama” is getting covered in mainstream news. I never thought I’d hear my local NPR announcer talk about Cyberpunk 2077.

Long story short, HDR is broken.

High 20s is definitely playable, especially since it’s not in all situations and only in specific scenarios. I don’t understand how people can see this and call the game unplayable.

Since I’m on XSX I’m pretty much impervious to the issues that seem to be dragging this game down. Short of Ray tracing, I feel even the non enhanced version is basically the pc version that is garnering such praise.

Love playing the game. Awesome game. Playing on XSX. Definitely looking forward to the upgrade.

Class Action Lawsuit isn’t going anywhere. Same with basically every game before it. People buy, refund the game and wait, I can’t play it??? WTF??? Seriously, give me a break.

After hotfix 1.05, game is very much playable across the board 10 days after launch. There’s games that are WORSE years after release NOW. Seriously, people are just bitching just for the sake of bitching.

The distinction here is that their higher ups told shareholders end of Nov that the game ran surprisingly well on base X1/PS4 models 2 weeks prior to release. That guidance might be specific enough to get nailed in court possibly.

The consumer lawsuit? Sure, because you can always get a refund if you are not happy, so no material harm has befell you.

However, if investors start issuing lawsuits, due to being lied etc, then that is potentially a whole different ball game and some individuals at CDPR could be in serious trouble.

Exactly. You cannot lie to investors and there is grounds that CDPR did just that. An investor could argue that he/she bought or decided not to sell shares on the basis the game was in good shape and would therefore sell a lot and the share price would increase. Instead it has been ridiculed and CDPR is having to offer refunds, has been taken down off the PS Store and the share price has collapsed.

Seems it has the same HDR issue that RDR 2 had when it first came out, hope it does not take CDPR as long to fix it. I REALLY wish you could turn off HDR in games themselves on the Xbox instead of having to do it on a system level.

Looks like the game would look much better if you turned off HDR for the game itself and then let Series X do it’s AI auto HDR on the game

I agree so damn much with that. It’s annoying as hell to have to switch HDR on for a game and off for the other for another game. And as for auto HDR, yes! So far I am very impressed with auto HDR, you make a good point here.

As for RDR2, was it ever truly 100% fixed? I recall seeing comments that HDR still looked washed out and stuff.

Yea they added a second HDR mode in RDR 2 that is actually HDR and looks much better now.

GOG advises Cyberpunk 2077 players to “keep a lower amount of items” to avoid corrupting save files

“Unfortunately the save is damaged and can’t be recovered.”

Jesus

Is that only for the GOG version??? LMAO.

 It never ends.

CDPR may ultimately recover from a financial point of view from the shit storm, but I believe they have now lost their ‘crème de la crème’ status among the gaming community and their next project will have a much more critical eye rather than unconditional hype.

The PSN element is likely not problematic for CDPR I’d presume, since that stems from Sony’s own customer service failures. CDPR has done plenty to help get customers their refunds. I kinda wonder if there would be grounds for the shareholder suit in the event they had tried delaying the current gen version actually.

Also, I wonder how much, if at all, the patch timing affects anything here. The patch from a few days ago made the game very definitely playable on current gen (20-25fps was ‘playable’ enough for GTA and Shadow of Mordor in the past, after all).

They have been seen as public enemy #1 for over a year at this point. I dunno where this narrative stems from that they were being viewed through rose tinted glasses up to launch. Very much the polar opposite in terms of the devs and culture there. The reality though is that the game design and artistic elements across the board in the game are legitimately some of the best the industry has ever produced. The tech is immensely impressive too. The issue is one of management, not development.

It could because Sony only delisted it due to the blowback about the quality of the PS4 version. When was the last time that happened and shareholders could point to that in a lawsuit.

My guess is not a lot because the damage has been done to the share price and I don’t know how long it will take to get back to where it was, if at all.

I was referring to the quality of their games and not the issues surrounding the company about their representation of transgender people etc. If Cyberpunk came out in a polished state, the vast majority of gamers would still hold CDPR in high regard from a sheer content point of view and still look forward to their games. I mean the day one sales would indicate the bad PR of the past year had minimal impact on CDPR from a financial point of view.

Guys, I want to apologize…I tested the game with the latest patch on One X with my end game save…and I can confirm that it’s bad.

I got constant 20-25 FPS. It was kind of playable…Then I drove towards the city center and got a crash under a bridge…

I can’t imagine playing all through this game with this kind of perfomances. I expected bad framerate but not that bad and constant.

I got back on SX in quality mode and yeah, except the couple crashes I got, it’s very much what the perfomances should be on all platforms. Maybe the devs should consider dropping the resolution further on One X, as a temporary fix at least.

The further I get into this game, the more it seems that I really should have put some points in stealth &/or hacking.

I’m getting more than a few missions now where it feels like I’m playing the game wrong by going in guns blazing. It’s still doable of course, but it just feels wrong. There’ll be a whole pre-mission setup where V plans various stealth approaches & options for hacking things to distract guards, etc… Then, because I’ve built this Rambo character, I can’t actually do any of it & so I just shoot everybody.

Think my 2nd playthrough will be similar to how I played Jensen in Deus Ex. Hack everything, sneak everywhere, pistol for a backup, just in case.

I put a lot of points into stealth but ultimately found stealth unfun and clunky in this game. Once your caught there’s no chance to rectify your mistake and try again. Instead it’s guns blazing until everyone’s dead. I expected to play this game like a stealth game but opted for assault rifles and submachine guns everytime.
