Crisis Core: FF7 Reunion Announced (coming this Winter to Xbox)

But is that really THAT different from console? Looking at the top games on Xbox, apex and Fortnite are on there, Xbox decided to put Halo multiplayer free to play for a reason, etc. Sure aaa make up a big chunk, but probably less than we realize.

For me it’s more about what the console manufacturers are pushing for and what traditional videogame devs push for. Gamepass being their main strategy when it comes to Xbox also doesn’t make sense with f2p.

But yeah, I agree that the f2p model has grown tremendously on consoles these past few years. There’s definitely space for both big AAA games and f2p, although I think f2p has a bigger share on mobile and PC while big 60-70$ releases fare better on consoles, expect for a few exceptions.

It’s possible. But if not for Game Pass, just for Xbox then and I don’t think MS should have to pay anything extra for it, but who knows what SE wants. I have no doubt that during Phil’s visit to Japan and SE he asked about the game. He’s well aware how badly fans of FF on Xbox want it.

And I think he is well aware of the contractural arrangements between Square and Sony, and while it won’t be in detail, it will be enough to know what Xbox can do and not do. He will know the exclusivity length.

I would expect that when Phil Spencer goes to Japan, a meeting is in the appointment book at Square Enix. You don’t snub the boss of one of the largest game companies in the world, and a executive at one of the billion dollars companies. We may cry about not knowing when FF7R is coming to Xbox, but Spencer will know when.

Do we know about the situation regarding ff7 remake being removed from the ps store console exclusive list? We know persona got removed and xbox got persona.

Just interesting

Maybe Switch cloud version. Who knows.

People are not ready for Gackt. I’ve played it on the PSP years ago and I’m still not ready to encounter Gackt again.

Yes I believe both FF7R and P5R were removed around the start of the month.

Yeah makes no sense to remove ff7r. Its still a playstation console exclusive. Odd.

Maybe Sony wasn’t sure if Steam Deck was a console or not

Apparently that list is missing some first party games too. I believed when P5R was removed and then announced at the conference that FF7R was coming because of that. But now I read that that list just has games rotated in and out a lot and it seems that it was pure coincidence.

Going to be honest, don’t wait to play FF7R at this point if you really wanna play it. It’s really no man’s land right now on IF/When FF7R ever makes it over to Xbox. If even at all at this point because we just don’t know. Exclusivity periods have lapsed for a while now and still nothing.

I think either Sony extended a contract to keep it exclusive for a long time now and we just don’t know about it. Or Square is holding out for a payment from Microsoft to put it on Xbox. Just look at the 6 months EGS exclusivity period for proof of that.

I wonder if it’s because the contract has ran out, so Sony won’t put it in because it’s not definite it would stay a PlayStation exclusive but at the same time, SE aren’t porting it to other consoles.

Like how MGS4 was an exclusive but not through contracual obligations. Just a technicality, nothing I’m speculating over.

Square and Xbox also announced FF14 to Xbox and it hasn’t come. At this point Square is just an incompetent company and trending downhill. They are accelerating their demise by ignoring Switch and Xbox. Ultimately itll lead to someone buying them for pennies just like Square West.

FFXIV is making Square money hand over fist- that’s why they’re all in for full service games now. Don’t you think that Square knows that if Xbox gamers were playing FFXIV they would be making more money?

Exactly. The FFXIV Xbox port silence is pretty telling because SE had been saying for years they’d love for it to be on Xbox, but the policies needed changing. Then it finally gets announced under the great Xbox leadership as of late, and silence. This so happens to be right around the time that insiders have (correctly) hinted that Sony wants mainline FF to be exclusive for the entire generation and Sony constantly mentioning and promoting how successful FFXIV is on their platform.

It’s one thing for devs to say that the port is a hard process, or the expansions are taking all their manpower, or…anything. But the weird silence speaks volumes. Combine this with the fact that Sony is positively known to work out/extend contracts behind the scenes and it’s pretty telling they have a hand in this, just like FF7R and FFXVI.

I dont need to play ff7r again ive already beat back when it launched. I would have tried to 100 percent it on xbox though because i skipped those sidequests. Its a damn short game anyway.

Either way. Must just be technicality. Though persona being removed wasnt

I dont think Square is in the business of making money to be quite honest. There is not a more mismanaged company in the business.

Could be just waiting for a Gamepass announcement. The EGS exclusivity period has ended and MS still hasn’t announced the GP games for rest of this month, but then again that’s probably me wishful thinking.

Undoubtedly. But I’m just done with hoping for it to happen. Over it. Not gonna worry about it anymore or spend any energy on it. Eventually I will get a PS5 and hopefully get the game for a nice price by that time, but if by some miracle it actually has ended up on Xbox, I’ll get that. But I would say…it’s just dead.
