If you’re someone who doesn’t have the time to go through the entire Yakuza series than I’d say Yakuza 0 and Yakuza LAD are the two must plays in the series. They’re well contained stories and don’t really require any knowledge of the previous games. They’re the gold standards of the series.

I think there are youtube videos that also go through the story of each game which can help people if they want to skip some of the collection, Y1, etc. However I do feel Y2 was very good and a game a person should experience in the series and same with 6.

Agreed, K2 was a really fun time. In case anybody here is daunted by the length of the series, almost all of them have story recaps, so you’re up to speed. It generally doesn’t matter too much though, and I think the real strength of the series is balancing straight dramatic plots (that are occasionally very stupid) with funny stupid substories (that are occasionally deadly serious).

I refuse to play anything Yakuza with a dub. Though I gurss i dont use a dub on anything.

I’ve heard good things about the LAD dub, but I prefer subs in almost every situation.

I thought the story really fell apart at the end, but it was a fun ride. Glad you enjoyed it! 5 is a really big one, so prepare yourself!

5 is the biggest game in the series. People often call it the “San Andreas” of the Yakuza series because of how much content there is.

Pretty much, yeah. I would also suggest people to give Judgment a go, considering it is an entirely self-contained story. An absolute gem too.

I guess. Maybe in 3-5 months. But I think it is worth the purchase anyway.
