Yakuza / Like A Dragon |OT| That's Rad!

I’m really getting into the story now, it definitely takes some time for it to go somewhere, that’s not to say I dislike that but now we’re getting somewhere. Spoilers for Yakuza 0!!!

That whole part where the whole Dojima family is after Kiryu and then ending in the sewers with Kuze. And man, he really can’t seem to kill eh, that Kiryu. In a way that’s actually cool!

And then the part with Nishiki, I was afraid for a second he would die, Nishiki that is. But I’m glad that didn’t happen. No longer sworn brothers though.

For a second I was afraid this real estate stuff was going to be mandatory and complex, but it seems that’s not the case. Which I’m happy about, I’m not much of a person for that, lol.

If you think about it, this game is episodic, but it’s done extremely well.

Yakuza 0 one of the greatest games ever made. Period.

The real estate stuff isn’t mandatory but it is extremely lucrative, which is nice when the levelling system is based on money. Some of the people you meet from substories are great for it too.

Facts. That final chapter is probably the best part of a video game I have ever experienced.

Hmmm, in that case I’m gonna dive deep into it and try to understand it. But there’s also the other place Kiryu can go for easy money. I’ve only seen it in a cutscene in the game today but tomorrow I’ll visit the place. Forgot the name, but they call it heaven for men or something, lmao.

I love most of the substories too. I mean it’s not like you do much, but the stories add something to the overal experience. You often end up doing something good for someone, nice. Today I had two substories with Miracle Johnson, just awesome stuff!

But there is one substory I haven’t gotten yet (which I did in my first playthrough, that I didn’t finish and then started the game all over) the one with a cult. I assume these substories appear eventually, no matter how far into the story I am?

Oh shit, I’m in for something special once I get around that part then!

I had a quick look at a guide and it claims substories aren’t missable, so don’t get too wound up over it I guess? There’s a piece of equipment that makes them show up on your map from “Substories #13 and #79” Apparently Kiryu’s is locked behind the real estate game and Majima’s is from eating at Komian a lot.

Edit: The story you’re thinking of is in Chapter 3, western exit of Ashitaba Park

Hmm, I’m in chapter 6 or 7 now.

No worries, apparently nothing is missable.

God, the fighting is just so good in this game. Nothings better than letting loose on some pieces of trash in this game, after you find out they’ve pulled some disgusting shit.

And some of these substories, there’s humor in there but also some very human moments, some truly warm the heart to be honest.

Two questions…

Heat actions seem mostly for Brawler and Thug style, not really for Rush I believe it’s called and the other one. Are there heat actions for the weapons that you can buy/craft too or not like that? I tried it with a Nunchaku, nope, picked up a knife on the ground but the heat action was just the regular one.

Thanks. It sucks a bit but it does make sense.

Defeated one of the Mr Shakedowns and it got me 70.000, feels gooooooooood!!!

And those heat actions with weapons are the SHIT. With some of these I legit say out loud “Oooooh shiiiiit”. Love it.

So, just beat Yakuza 3. Come on, it’s not that dated. I mean, yeah, some enemies were annoying as shit (PLEASE stop blocking, I’m begging you), and it was certainly more limited understandably, but I still found the combat to be enjoyable. Perhaps it helped that I didn’t jump straight from a Dragon Engine game to Yakuza 3 (left about a month in between Judgment and Yakuza 3). That would have been rough. I liked the story for the most part, besides a couple gripes (predictable plot twists). So, not my favorite, but I still liked it quite a bit. Seems like something that’d fall in the middle of my list.

It’s definitely not as bad as some people make it out to be. I really liked it despite it’s flaws.

Yeah, it wasn’t as bad as I thought it would be. It took a bit of getting used to since it felt pretty clunky coming from K2, and the beginning section took a while, but once you got into the groove of things, it was fine.

Yep I (and assuming most of us here) played it around the time it was released after finishing Kiwami 2 so it wasn’t so bad with the downgraded graphics. The combat sucks with the blocking but it’s still a great game and the story is one of my favourites. Plus after you finish it the games get graphically better with each title.

I need to go back to this series.

Hopefully you guys can help me a little with running the hostess cabaret club. For now I just need to know one thing…

I go to makeover and then you see the “looks” of the hostess. For example I see a X for sexy, a circle for beauty, a circle for cute and a X for funny.

What exactly does a X and a circle mean? The circle means she has those skills and the X means she doesn’t?

I believe circle is good, triangle is ok, x is bad (going off memory)

Alright, nice!

Also, I just had my first shift, went well actually. One thing isn’t really clear. Guests come in and I assign a lady to the table, but how do I beforehand know what his preference is? I had one quest that was already at the table and it said he preferred beauty.

It seems fun though! Man this game offers a lot.

It tells you their preference when they sit down and then you need to assign the proper girl to him (quickly enough)
