Monday! Time for the first look at the leaderboard this year and we already have points coming in! Staffy taking the lead Keep up the good work everyone!
As you may notice a couple of you will not get a notification and that’s because Discourse limits the number of “@” mentions you can do in a post to 10. There’s 13 of us, so not counting me, two people will not get a ping. I will randomly choose those two each week so it’s not the same people every time.
Wanted to play this mostly because it’s from a German studio and set in an alternate history version of East Germany (apparently.) Basically an FPS/walking sim, set in a generic dystopian “industrial” city. Decent enough for the 5 hours it took to complete, but nothing special.
Mouthwashing +1 (Steam) - One of the games that drew me in with its low poly PS1 graphics. Pretty much a walking simulator with a decent story and interesting premise. Only takes 3 to 4 hours to finish. Good game but I wanted more from a gameplay perspective.
Nobody Wants To Die +1 (Steam) -
This game shares a similar gameplay style to Mouthwashing but takes place in a Blade Runner world as a washed up detective investigating a murder. Instead of low-poly graphics you’ll be treated to a stunning Unreal Engine experience. 6 hours to finish .
Started off OK but should know by now these games probably aren’t my cup of tea. Don’t think my brain is wired for the puzzles so ended up using a guide to help on some of them to to get the story complete. Some good humour/dialogue and game play sections so a mixed bag overall for me. Took 14 hours in total. 6/10.
That seems about right. A lot of context, characters and lore in this game is for players who have experienced the previous game Beneath a Steel Sky. So basically nostalgia.
I have that in the backlog from last year. I did play the first one on PC many years ago, but I don’t remember anymore lore from that anymore. Too long ago. Hopefully the puzzles at least make sense, because i hate it when a otherwise nice adventure game has puzzles that make zero sense.
Great game, nice bite sized and approachable, I had a blast playing as each of the potatoes and building their skills out and fighting the monsters. I’m definitely interested in more of this game. Dlc added a new map area and a ton of new enemies, playable characters and items. I also loved that this one has touch controls for mobile, and they worked really well.
Yeah I believe if you’ve enjoyed the first there is definitely more to be had from this. And if its a style of game you enjoy then definitely try it out. I have the original on PC and even though not blown away by this game I still fancy trying out the first.
Yeah if you more familiar with these type of games then the puzzles might make more sense. Without giving away anything one required perfect positioning to have the option to do the action. I spent over an hour walking around try to do various actions on everything else wondering where I was going wrong before seeking assistance
My first game completed on the Nintendo Switch 2! I had a good time with it, playing it as a “game on the side” as I like to call it. The gameplay is fun but best enjoyed in shorter bursts imho. There’s A LOT of digging That’s not all there is to it of course, it has a lot of secrets to dig up (pun intended) with some cool old-school levels and the transformations changes up the regular gameplay enough. I didn’t go after all the collectibles, there’s a lot of them, so there’s more to do here on a replay which is nice. You meet a lot of classic characters which is fun for fans of the series I guess, I knew half of them or so lol… The story is nothing to write home about, but it’s enough to drive the game forward.
The game runs very well and looks good, and overall the Switch 2 is a massive improvement over the old one. I even played a lot of this game in handheld, as the thing is bigger than the old one and feels much better to use. But in the end I still prefer docked with a Pro controller.
+3 Hot Wheels Unleashed 2 + four dlc (accelerators, hangar 86, fast and furious, Italian restaurant)
The main game is maybe 5 or 6 environments, everything is really repetitive and there aren’t enough track variations in an environment (especially in the dlcs). Mostly enjoyed the checkpoint and drifting the most, but the physics are pretty good and it’s satisfying to knock other cars off track. Car collecting is mostly random which is irritating when trying to get the rarest cars.
And today I’m reinstalling Anthem for one last farewell. I still have my sealed copy from right after launch so will have to find somewhere nice to put that.
