Correct. Your backlog is all the games you own but haven’t played. That’s your pool.
You only count completions and purchases. If you finish a game from your backlog, you get +1 points (0.5 for a DLC).
If you buy a game you get -1 point.
You start at 0 points. The person with the highest total in December wins!
For example: You finish Hogwart’s Legacy (a game in your backlog), you make post here about it and you will recieve 1 point and your total score will be 1.
I’m thinking of joining again! I’m slowly switching back to PC this year and already have a big pile of games on Steam. I’m also missing the banter from the forum.
Hey! Long time no see. You’re always welcome to join! Yeah, reading about the games people play is always fun and this challenge gives a nice little frame to ones gaming and struggle against the backlog
This falls under my “podcast games” category, chill games to pluck away at whilst listening to podcasts. Really nice. This one of course had the Christmas theme so it felt appropriate for the season
I’d like to join please. I want to get through my collection before I buy any new games and the company from this thread will help keep me accountable for sticking with the backlog.
I’m playing Lunar Silver Star Story at the moment. It’s really good. Most of my backlog is jrpgs but there are a few Nintendo Switch 1 games
I’m on with 3 games that I don’t think count towards total as began last year but will update on completions for accountability as part of 2026 list to finish. In no order:
Beyond a Steel Sky - kept hearing positive reviews and was on sale in November for a few pounds. Played this the most over Xmas and about halfway through.
Metal Gear Solid - bought collection of 1st 3 games in June and started twice either side of moving house so now a 2026 completion. Just met first boss Revolver Ocelot.
Dead Space - originally bought this with a PS3 back in the day and never played it, was tempted to try whilst game pass sub was active then took plunge in November and bought the remake. About an hour in and the atmosphere is amazing.
There were a few more purchases whilst gaming took a back seat which increased backlog so back here to play them.
Welcome! Yes, it sounds like this will be perfect for you.
Those completions will count for this year, we all have games we’ve tried out and abandoned for one reason or another. This is about getting games done and off the backlog after all.
All of them except the one where you can build a new village somewhere, that kind of stuff isn’t for me. All other DLCs and side quests have been finished. Some activities such as hunt this and that animal remain but I think they are those infinite quests anyway.
According to the game stats I spend 264 hours with this game.
264 hours speaks well of the game that’s also in my backlog. Not sure when I’ll tackle it though. If it’s like Witcher 3 I lost time in that without ever feeling it was a drag and wanted more.
One of the smaller games I bought last year. It’s basically a 2D sidescroller/walking game with puzzles. It’s set in a fictional but heavily based on Nazi setting whereas the Nazis are robots , it’s about two characters that you control, a boy and girl. Absolutely a strong game, but held back by too often rather annoying and tedious stealth sections and also puzzles. I don’t regret the 2 bucks or so I spend on it though.
