XboxEra's 2024 Backlog Challenge |OT| Surely this is the year?

It is! Haha, thanks for reminding me of that.

That’s what I would think too, I just wanted to confirm with you and the crew :green_heart:

Love the Spyro games. Played all three a few years back (originally played them near release with my son - great memories).

Definitely 3 separate games.

Yeah, for sure. Anything we are unsure about, we’ll discuss and come to an agreement on here. :green_heart:

Man, you guys are running away with the points… I’m still knee deep in Baldur’s Gate 3 with no end in sight.

I was kind of curious about how I’d count the Grand Tour game from 2019 that was delisted in 2020. Has anyone played it? It’s got maybe 32 or 36 or so sections in the original 2 episodes but then almost 200 in the season 3 episodes that got added later. The “dlc achievements” count for double the ones in the part that released first. But you could also make an argument that it’s all one game. I’m just about but not quite done with it.

Dude… that’s because you picked BG3 as your first backlog game… BG3… that’s like a year’s worth of game right there…

Dead Island 2 is great. Story is fine but the combat and gameplay is so much fun to play. Dropkick is entertaining and satisfying. Melee combat and shooting combat are both really good and enjoyable. Haven’t played the first expansion “Haus” yet though. The gore system is brutal and awesome!!

I would second this take.

If a visual novel game counts as a +1 then certainly three full sized games in a single package is a +3

Competition is fierce this year :eyes:

Yep, no problem here :3

I guess my plan this year is to complete as many indie games I bought (God knows when) in these past years. I’m surprised at the amount of VN, roguelikes and metroidvania games I have

But things complicated for me thanks to:

Summary

I’ve never been this addicted to a gime since I left Destiny 2.

First completion of the year!

Telltale Games Game of Thrones (Xbox One version) +1

Summary

A decent storyline, and true to the series but that meant I was upset with some of the endings because I actually liked many of the characters they created. Some of the events seemed a bit contrived and unrealistic but some seemed very much to fit the world of the show (despite owning the books I’ve not read them).

It seemed like they planned to make a follow up but went out of business first. It’s kinda annoying and illustrates the issues the studio had (especially for the relatively small size and the graphics of these games) that the ceo was talking up how far along in planning the second season was after the first released and three years later they weren’t close to having it ready.

About 107 or so more races until I’m done with my next one since I’m working on getting all the achievements in it.

Ah yes, I remember the frustration with how things always seemed to go to shit no matter the choices. But that was very much in line with the show/books so I liked it. Would also have liked a sequel tbh.

I’m also playing a couple more of their games that I’ve had forever and had at least started at some point, and it seems like they like those kind of no good outcome choices in general. But yeah agreed it does fit these stories fairly well.

Just beat Dead Space (2008) for the first time… (I became a baby with horror games at some point, though I love the genre).

Thought this was super cool, and another point for why I love Xbox’s stance on BC:

+1

Total: 4

Played the Dead Space trilogy for the first time about two years ago and it was a challenge… Scared the shit out of me.

Well… given that it took me almost 15 years to beat Dead Space, you’re in good company

Haha didn’t notice the dates… Yeah, that’s a long time.

The weird thing is I really enjoy horror, but I’m too scared to play or watch most of the time. I get so damn immersed in most games, doesn’t help I mostly play at night with head phones either…

Literally me lol. I am lucky too that I have a wife that loves horror games (watching, not playing) so it helps to have that moral support :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

Question for the competition: what game should I beat next?

I started RE0 again but am remembering why it was always one of my least favorite GCN RE games… so I’m up for suggestions - carte blanche, I have far too many games so I’m up for any suggestions for PS4, PS3, Switch, Xbox 360, and X1/Series.

+1: Star Wars Battlefront II

The campaign was a fun time with some epic locations. Surprisingly, there are a lot of bugs.
