I don’t usually post my non-backlog completions. But this one’s been in my “Game Pass backlog” for several years now, due to the high ratings.
Most games from this era haven’t aged all that gracefully. But this one really holds up! Great air to air combat and even a full story campaign with cutscenes, which I wasn’t expecting.
After getting over some initial achievement withdrawal symptoms, I ended up really enjoying it.
I also think Jade Empire and Morrowind hold up well if you want to try those as well. Jade Empire is my favorite Bioware game and Morrowind is my favorite Elder Scrolls game.
Just rolled credits on Nobody Wants to Die - put most of my thoughts in the game’s review thread, but just to say for the price I got a lot of hours out of it (I think about 8.5 hours but I didn’t do all the endings or achievements).
Also it’s a great detective story as well as being a bit of a thriller with an immersive (if screwed up) world, and the narrative had me hooked (if confused at times, I got most of it but did have to look up one or two things particularly if wanted the good ending lol).
Did love the 1930s detective noir in the future vibe, complete with smoky-sounding voice-overs like in Max Payne or old-school detective films, with cheesy lines delivered well
Wow checking the stats for Nobody Wants to Die, I spotted my Powerwash Simulator stats.
It may be the reason my backlog suffers lol - I’ve bought all the DLC, completed every available job (some repeatedly particularly for challenges or achievements) for a grand total of over 128 hours…!
All game long I was thinking “man, a remake or modern sequel to this would really kick ass.”
Obviously it shows its age in some aspects. But the game is fun, the premise is fairly unique, and I wish games like this were still being made these days.
Finally completed the last achievement I’d been missing on this which was related to playing 12 different months, I thought it should have unlocked last month but for some reason it didn’t.
Hitman 2:+ 1, + .5, +.5 (Main game & both of the DLC missions)
Completed every mission story, all of the achievements in the main game along with a bunch of extra challenges that looked fun, and also in both the Haven Island and the New York levels which were DLC for the game. Had a lot of fun with this (expected since I knew I liked what I had played of the first game and since I had finished all the mission stories in the third one & loved it) and was sort of surprised I hadn’t played much of it - also when I went back & checked my purchase history I found that I had bought the DLC and then bought the Gold version that included it - not sure why I did that. I didn’t bother with the legacy levels here though I thought about it. I’ve played very few of the story missions in that first game though, so am toying with going through & trying to do the same sort of full game cleanup, and I also have the alternative stories like patient zero or … the icon? in there which I’ve never tried. Might do that after I do some other stuff.
I thought about which of the maps here in the second game is my favorite, and I honestly don’t know that I can say for sure, possibly Whittleton Creek or Haven Island. I started out not sure I liked the Mumbai or Isle of Sgail levels, but they definitely grew on me; that said, my Isle of Sgail master run was a pain in the neck for me and I kept having to restart it because I was seen and hadn’t used my save. Good game and can’t wait to see what they do with Bond. It feels to me like we should be seeing more about that one in the next year or so, so fingers crossed.
Addressing the last point: I definitely wouldn’t say my surgeries/recovery was, or is, going well… but I’m still breathing, so a win’s a win.
As for Starfield, I completely agree with your biggest negative - it’s mine as well, and legitimately one of the only “problems” I have with the game. That said, I have more hours in Starfield in the year since it released than I currently do with Skyrim or Fallout 4, so BGS clearly did some things right for me. Personally, I’d argue it’s a monumentous achievement on several technical and design levels, and easily BGS’ most-polished title at launch. I wholeheartedly have nothing but love for the BGS team and what they accomplished with the game so far; simultaneously, I’ll never forget the absolute bullshit propaganda campaign from the zeitgeist and media trying to make the game fail.
Damn…im sorry to hear that. I hope you feel better very soon.
Agreed. I however have never played an Elder Scrolls game before and only played maybe an hour or so of Fallout 4 years ago but recently added it to my backlog since the current generation upgrade released. I figure that I would give it another shot but have no idea as to when. lol
Starfield is amazing on so many levels and has the foundation for so much to be added/built within. I was checking creations the other day but there’s nothing really there that interests me so I just stick with the Bethesda Game Studio creations. I would like to see BGS add an option for level scaling where every planet, enemy, etc. is the same level as what you are. I’m level 60 and some planets are around 85 and im like, come on man. lol
Will be wrapping up the base game’s story campaign and getting all the remaining powers later this month so I can start Shattered Space when it releases as I will be on a nice 10 day vacation. I also have to check the spreadsheet that I have for all the side quests. There’s over 200 of them (not those mission board ones) and I have to see if I missed any.
My wishlist has been growing quite a bit lately, but so far I’ve mostly been able to keep myself from buying much. I keep telling myself I’ll end up getting better deals when I do finally buy some of them. SW Outlaws and Assassin’s Creed Shadows are the two big ones I really want, but not this year…
So since I’ve never played either, have heard they’re both good, own both and was thinking of playing one sometime soon, which of these should I play first?
I will be buying and playing Dragon Age: The Veilguard day one and have a four day weekend when it releases so I will post my impressions while playing through it.
Oh man… vastly different in pretty much every way hah. I played the 360-version of Bioshock a long time ago, but I liked it. I have both the sequels in the backlog, as well as the trilogy remasters… haha.
DA Origins is much, much bigger too especially if you add in all the dlc/expansion. I think Awakening by itself is twice the length of Bioshock hehe. Origins is old by now, but if you can live with that it’s very, very good. It has a very interesting world, great characters and stories.
