+1 Caterpillar

Another Wednesday, another quick completion I bought this year marked off. I shouldn’t have a problem getting through them all by the end of the year. This is another simple puzzle game, with the added mechanic of not having a jump.

Desperately trying to resist the temptation to buy Astrobot…

Especially since I have a couple of great Mario platformers on my Switch that are still in the backlog…

Welp… I bought Space Marine 2. -1

I’m really in the mood for shooting a lot of things in the face and after Jesse’s review I couldn’t resist picking this up. Had some gift cards laying around so that made the descision easier.

Yes, I’m weak.

For platformers regardless of platform, I wont spend more than $20 to $30. If its LEGO then it has to be $10 to $20 range.

Considering your backlog, theres no shame in waiting for sales.

Buy it!!! What’s one more game in your backlog? Just ask @Mort.

Be sure to post your impressions when you play it in 2040. Hehe. Just joking.

Don’t agree with this perspective at all. Viewing certain types of games as some sort of lesser than not worthy of consideration outside of a bargain bin is how this industry got where it is.

A good platformer is worth every cent the asking price and I would, to this day, play just about any Mario game over just about any bloated meandering open world fodder. Mario Wonder was far more worth the money and time than any assassins creed or similar “big” game I’ve paid full price for.

I didn’t say it is how everyone should view, just my own personal worth on that genre.

I didn’t mean for it to come off as some sort of scathing indictment or anything. I just want games like this to keep getting made, and for that to happen people need to support them.

-1 Sniper Ghost Warrior: Contracts (free on Epic Games)

Enjoyed the previous game(s) on Xbox and was gonna buy the Contracts 1+2 bundle eventually. But hey… free is free.

Supported on GFN, too. Sweet.

You got it, I’ll try and overcome my current ADHD hyper-fixation and get on it (damn brain, I’ve been excited for this one for years… come on). Still owe you my Starfield review - need to find the time to write everything I want to cover. The gist is that it’s one of my favorite games of at least the last decade and may be fighting the top spot for my favorite BGS game entirely… there are complaints, sure, but it was also so constantly-jaw-dropping, for me, that it was one of the only things to distract me from the pain I’ve been in (it came out right before my second surgery last year).

Awesome. Visions of Mana look great and from a few people I follow on Twitter who are playing it say everything is an upgrade and an improvement over the Trials of Mana 2020 remake which I really enjoyed so I should enjoy Visions even more.

Forgot about your Starfield review but don’t feel bad, I still have one main story mission and ten “powers” to find before completing the base game but thankfully, will do so during my 10 day vacation later this month which I setup to be around the Shattered Space expansion.

Starfield is my game of the generation thus far and love it. Pretty sure I have over 500 hours including the 200 hours I put into the game at launch but lost due to a save file glitch. Love Starfield’s combat on foot and especially the space ship combat. Love the city hubs, environments, interiors are detailed as hell and the quests are the best I have played in any game since The Witcher 3.

I have complaints/negatives too but the positives greatly outweigh them. My biggest negative is in regards to exploration. I do wish BGS would add more variety to the points of interest. I come across the same layout with the same enemies in the same places in the layout too many times that just shouldn’t happen. This should be an even bigger priority for BGS now that they added the Rev-8 because unlike before, I want to explore the planets but if the content I come across isn’t interesting, engaging or starting up a quest, I lose interest which is a shame.

Glad your surgeries went well and hope you’re fully recovering and feeling better. Looking forward to reading your impressions for Mana and review for Starfield when the time comes.
