XboxERA's 2022 Backlog Challenge |OT| New Challenger Approaching!

Just finished Imposter Factory. It’s an indie game from Freebird Games in a series that started a decade ago with To The Moon. They’re made in RPG Maker. You can probably pick up the whole series on Steam right now for around $15 USD, and personally I think that’s a fair price.

Really heartfelt stories told earnestly. The gameplay is very simple, so don’t expect much there. Nice art, tasteful music, and some fun humor all weave together to create a delightful experience that I think you’ll treasure. I’ve been playing these games for 6 years now and I’m glad they exist.

+1 for me.

Also currently working through Cyberpunk 2077. Still runs a little trashy on Series X (REALLY wish VRR wasn’t used as a crutch) but I am enjoying the game, warts and all.

Unless July brings some huge GP drops, expect more progress from me soon. I won’t be in third place for long!!!

Quick question. So I’m jumping though some of my backlog games and one that I’ve started is “The Council”.

It looks like it’s similar to Telltale/Dontnod where the first episode is a few hours long, and then the following episodes are about 2-3 hours each (total of 5 episodes).

How do we want to count this? I’m kinda fine with whatever, just want to make sure I’m accurate when I make my comeback post.:joy:

I count all of those episodes as one game, it is just chopped up into chapters. Like you have to play all episodes to get the full 1000GS. So only a +1.

Looks like I have to start digging into my pile of quick little games soon, the competition is rising and I’m busy with out of competition-games atm.

Cortana, open folder: “Backlog quickies”…

I agree with @Mort, have the whole thing count as +1.

Sounds intriguing. Maybe I’ll give it a look.

Some updates from me… bought Nexomon: Extinction and completed it, which evens out. Super fun game if you’re looking for a nice Pokemon fix. The dialogue can be pretty hilarious and I like the characters and plot. And I just finished NieR: Automata from the backlog. Only took like three years!

Should hopefully get back to a positive score soon! Not sure what’ll be next at the moment though.

Will do! I played the first 15 minutes for my TA Bean Dive yesterday and it seems pretty basic so far. I’ve been meaning to get to it over the years, it’s just kinda slipped my mind.

Back in the positives with Mega Man 11! I did NOT expect this game to be as hard as it was, geez. But I think I’m on a pretty good roll here for like the first time this year!

Finished Cyberpunk 2077. +1 for me. (Went with the Devil ending for my first time)

It’s kind of a hodgepodge of Rockstar, BGS, and a little bit of Deus Ex, but ultimately never hits the high of any of those games. It’s simultaneously a remarkably ambitious game and yet also terribly safe. The Witcher 3 was one of my very favorite games of the last generation, and though I don’t think this reached those same highs I did enjoy my time with it quite a bit. The main story is certainly stronger than Witcher 3. I did every side quest, ignored a majority of the gigs, and I’ll play the rest of four major endings soon. I appreciate that it’s a leaner game than Witcher 3. (Can’t fully trust my playtime because of idle screen time, but it probably took me ca. 50ish hours.) I cannot recommend the game if you are still on a last-gen machine because it still isn’t in great shape on Series X. It’s playable, but far from ideal. I didn’t run into anything catastrophic but it is still a fairly buggy game, and I do not approve of the use of VRR to cover up significant performance flaws.

Overall, it’s a game that I’ll likely continue to think about over the coming years, but not necessarily with only fondness.

Not 100% sure what’s next for me. Just about two weeks until XC3 comes out, which I’ll be playing. Will keep you guys posted.

I really enjoyed Cyberpunk 2077, it was not as good as TW3 but it had some great characters and I loved the setting. Easily my GOTY 2020.

I’m not quite that positive on it - my 2020 GOTY was Doom Eternal - but to quote Tim Rogers…

I’ve taken the last several weeks almost entirely away from gaming, but I had some free time the last few days so I powered through Horizon Zero Dawn from start to finish. + 1

I really enjoyed the game, and am now looking forward to the sequel. I had a few very minor gripes, but overall this was a solid 8.5 or so for me.

I have the DLC as well, but have not started it. Anyone have an opinion on it? If it adds something compelling to the narrative I will probably play it, but if it’s just more of the same combat and questing I’ll skip it.

I enjoyed it too, solid Far Cry game. The expansion is more of the same, but better I thought. There are more than two NPC models for example!

The Frozen Wilds is good but a side story as it takes place during the base game as opposed to afterwards. I would say it’s worth playing as it’s not that long and introduces a few new machines that aren’t in the base game.
