Not sure, he just said he needed to go off camera for a minute. It’s exhilerating and scary to have two of us at this full time now, need to be a real company.
I consider Xboxera to be the Continuation of those non official format magazines that used to exist, oh so many years ago, in as such youse are part of a great lineage.
Here’s to 200 more.
Wow, what a show. I was only able to dip in and out due to how late it was here (I feel for you Jon) but I’m trying to catch up today.
It definitely felt like a celebration that both XboxEra and the wider Xbox community needed.
Congratulations guys.
Belated congrats on 200!
Thanks! And appreciate the support on Patreon.
Sure! I’ve been listening to you guys since the podcast idea came up - always a source of entertainment and even occasionally insight Figured I was well overdue to recognize the work you all put into this.
It means a lot - truly!
Watching the current podcast and love hearing Nick say “lock it all down” and let everyone else get fucked. I agree 100%. This is why I like Nick.
I also agree with Nick in regards to there being only one console with everything on it but that’s probably not going to happen.
That’s called a PC.
That’s not a console though.
Love Nick, but that probably means you should do the opposite course as of action cough Nick on Bethesda contracts… Cough
Do you remember what he said about the contracts? Because if it was up to me, I would have ripped them up and paid Sony for breaking the contracts because having the two games is far more important to me than the money would have been. Of course, this is just my own personal opinion.
The Steamdeck is basically a console, it even has things like quick resume (sleep).
That’s cool but I see it as a handheld/portable. Not a console to me.
What about when you dock it?
To me it’s no different then say the Switch?
Closer but it doesn’t have the capabilities and specifications of what a Series X or PlayStation 5 have so I guess docked, you could say it’s in the middle?
Hmmm… Is the Switch not a console?
You can dock the Legion Go, MSI Claw and Asus ROG Ally too.
I think when he’s saying console he is focused on the box under the TV, from a power perspective.
Hmm… the whole power narrative does seem pretty pointless at this point.
Most the games we are playing are also releasing on previous gen. Some of the best modern games such as Zelda Tears of the Kingdom are releasing on the Switch which is 7 year old hardware.
The N64 was significantly more powerful than the PS1 and the GameCube was significantly more powerful than the PS2, despite this people remember the PS1 & PS2 more fondly.
Now the Switch is less powerful but it’s outselling the PS5 and Xbox combined.
I’d rather have more games then more power and Steam also has some incredible exclusives. The Steamdeck is definitely providing a console experience but allows you to play PS, Xbox and Steam exclusives.
I do, because I felt the same way. But in hindsite that would have spelled disaster for the ABK deal, it was even referenced by commissions to the importance of MS signing contracts in that space now. I go with emotion, which is BAD business, it was spelt out for me right there.
