Digital code only sounds like an error

Iā€™m sure some may experience that. However, a lot of development cost goes into music, art, level design, game mechanics. These things are all things that an AI can do with some prompting or guidance, probably just not at a scale of an entire game yet. That meerly seems like an engineering challenge to me, time to scale the capabilities.

This should be especially translatable for franchises that are well established and thestudios/publishers that already own lots of related art, designs, etc that they can feed into the AIā€™s.

It sounds very dystopian.

Game studios will be one guy pushing buttons in a server hall.

While I forsee it changing game design, I donā€™t see it as a dystopian future. Technological advances often result in jobs drastically changing and the elimination of previously fruitful positions. I believe AI will do the same. I look at content creators as someone that will highly benefit.

I also forsee laws changing in the not so far future about compensating and crediting artists, IP owners of content creators that is used to generate the images, music etc. So while the AI may scale things like crazy and be able to generate way more than any creators today, those same content creators and creatives that are used to train the AIs may find their qorks are in more demand than ever.

This will only raise the stakes for games. Every tool in existence and history made game development easier than before. Games still got more expensive to make :woman_shrugging:

Its the same in other parts of software development. Gets easier every year. And every year requirements raise more than before.

Iā€™m not saying this is a bad thing. Better education, documentation, engines, tooling, art market place, ā€¦ got us indie games on the level of some previous AA or AAA games. Which i absolutely love.

Unless they invented rent code, youā€™re probably right.

The gaming media really dislikes Xbox huh?

Most ā€œgaming mediaā€ these days amounts to shitty bloggers.

Itā€™s natural to act this way when something is perceived as a threat to their precious Sony. Donā€™t let them convince you otherwise. They can run their mouths about how weak the Xbox brand is, yet for some reason, it lives rent free inside their consciousness.

Also lol that Eurogamer article. What a joke. I thought they were supposed to be one of the better ones, clearly not the case.

They, like most places, have various pockets of acceptability. The only portion of EG Iā€™ve even been having a look at content is the DigitalFoundry portion.

Must have missed this, do you happen to have a link handy? :slightly_smiling_face:

Oh dear god, it better not be in first person.

Itā€™s fake

Fake or not, of course we can expect a Starfield Developer Direct soon. Not exactly news either way?

Itā€™s been since 2001.

I do wonder if Grubb knows something or that he knows just as much as we all do.

Also, guy in that tweet says a leaker says October 27 for the game. I looked in that RE thread, no leaker saying such a thing at all.
