Oh believe me, I know.

But I wonder why Jez tweeted it like this, is it sarcasm or is he genuinely excited about it? I always thought he was mostly focused on Xbox stuff.

Sarcasm sounds about right

Chrono Cross. And many Square HD remasters skip Xbox too. The Mana games (recently, Legend of Mana) and the SaGa games (which did come to Xbox at first and then stopped), with Romancing SaGa: Minstrel Song remaster coming in December. These are two examples, they had HD remasters released on Switch/PS/PC.

Personally I’m just sick of tweets like that from Xbox heads/journalists/whatever because it feels like they’re saying “Why don’t Square games come to Xbox? Because Sony moneyhats every single one!” when that’s not even remotely true at all.

Sony is directly and indirectly involved in that though.

At this point Square Enix is basically challenging Xbox with “c’mon acquire us and get those games” :joy: I do wonder what’s gonna happen with Square Enix the next year. The whole lineup without a single Xbox game for 2023 is just too odd.

If it’s just a remaster of PE I won’t care. But a new game or a remake like FF7R and I’m gonna be sad. But whatever, I’ve given up on SE pretty much.

Was it ever on Xbox though? Why being sad?

SE is operating like it is still PS2 era though, but well whatever.

You can’t tell me Sony aren’t paying an “anything but Xbox” fee to SE. It’s never been easier to port between consoles/PC and there’s no benefit for a big publisher to skip one or the other unless they’re being financially compensated.

It’s not just sales and exposure either, it devalues brands/IPs. It’s just way too unusual unless there’s been a serious and irreparable breakdown in relations between MS and SE - and if there was, I’d have expected an Xbox response like investing in a Japanese publisher (read: SEGA)

The power of Playstation 5 allows to create open-world games :joy:

So you won’t be able to do that on PC? Lol

I would 100% imagine that if the “anything but Xbox fee” existed then it would definitely be applied to FF7 Crisis Core remake. And probably Diofield Chronicle because that was a State of Play reveal. Not games that are revealed on Nintendo Direct like Octopath 2 and those Mana and SaGa games I mentioned.

Bloodborne comment comes to mind now. Unless I misread that back then the studio said Bloodborne was only possible on PS4.

Once/if the Remake comes to Xbox it’s going to be exactly the same. Who do they think they’re fooling?

It feels like you quite often hear that “only possible on Playstation” talk. I wonder if is the part of paid marketing…Because I seriously doubt that those who say that believe in it.

I already saw comments on Twitter just now like…“see? Series S is not used and these are the results. Nothing holding anything back.”

I mean…:joy:

Those comments for PS5 age like milk when they later on release the title on PC and even last-gen PS4.
