XboxEra Community Hangout |OT9| Waiting for Developer_E3

IMO the 2022 Xbox showcase would have been great as a Nintendo Direct event some other time in the year, but for the major “E3” showcase it just has to be more.

Seems my exact opinion was posted as I was typing this

Sequels to existing franchises can be ideal to showcase even if they are years away or projects the studio has a hard time recruiting new developers for, but the preference is for new IPs to be announced shortly before launch. In a space of months and with the right marketing, it is possible to create and work hype with any type of public. Lmao, I didn’t say you were worried about the future of XBOX projects, I’m referring to all this negativity within the community and the media.

It’s to see what’s coming in the future. I don’t buy consoles for just the first year or two. I buy them for the duration of the generation and want to see what’s coming down the line.

Take The Game Awards for example. I’m not a Hades guy and while the sequel is probably two years away from an actual console full release, people are stoked for the game because they know it’s coming.

It’s more about getting hyped about what’s coming and knowing what you’re getting in the future.

E3 is the main event for Microsoft and Xbox. I would like to see a glimpse of the future. I’m not asking for everything. Just give me two new game reveals that are beyond the 12 months and I’ll be happy.

Agree with both of you above.

But sequels, you know what to expect. Very rarely does a direct sequel go on a brand new path from the original game. A sequel, you know what you’re getting. A new IP, not so much if at all.

Oh hahaha. I’m not being negative and I have zero concerns. I don’t even mind the 12 month format. Just give me a little more besides that and im good.

It’s funny. Social media or to be precise here, Twitter, can really bring the worst of a person. Actually, it could be said to be showing off true color. The point is, a long time ago, journalists don’t often share opinion unless they’re tasked to do so. Now with social media, it’s free to speak.

We have dealt with gaming and now it’s more overblown than ever, mainly because a challenger is actually challenging. I don’t recall Xbox original get this amount of hate aside from public perspective in a physical appearance. With social media, it’s either replicating it or worse. It’s not just gaming as well; it’s everything. It’s why I felt like there’s a pinpoint timeline on when everything gone to hell, but reality could be it’s been like this since ever, but social media made it apparent.

I know we’re human beings, but I think the best response to someone that challenge your opinion is either stay silent or hell, use a meme for humor. Calling out with swears and what not make you look bad despite if you end up being right. I suppose ego is also part of this. It’s a mess.

That live stream of Wo Long is awesome. You got a dev there talking while a actually very good player/streamer plays it. No cringe, no over the top shit. Plenty of making sure it’s coming to Xbox, which is GOOD!

I would love if in the (near) future we get similar streams for big upcoming games. Well done!

As for the game, man it’s fast and man I need to get good, I sucked at the demo. I also hope they have improved the graphics because the demo had some weird kind of sharpening filter or something which strangely made it look way less crisp than many other games.

A certain someone is probably screaming into a pillow right about now

Agreed, sure Unreal is a good fit for lots of studios. But they didn’t decide this on a whim or were forced to do this. They saw how hundreds of Epic coders produce often better results than their inhous stuff, because more man power, doh. They looked at what feature set their games need, what compromises UE5 forces on them, what that means for their staffing and what it means financially. Do you really want the technical basis of your business be controlled by a (almost) monopoly? etc.

Every studio anwsers these questions differently. For many Unreal is a good way, for others Godot or Unity or their own tech. Assetto Corsa went back from Unreal to their own stuff.

I’m loving High on Life but I wish MS offered the studio help on localization as the voice acting is only in English and it has a lot of subtitles to read during action if you’re not in US/UK/CA/AUS.

I agree with this because there are many gamepass day one games that I enjoyed this year. I most likely would’ve missed them if it wasnt in service

Next year is going to be worse. Not only there will be first party titles, but so as third party. Next month, you will be completely full just by Rise and two Persona.
