Will depend on Game Pass growth and maybe the possible revenue gained from the $10 increase to games along everything else in the ecosystem. Game Pass has many things around it to keep it subsidized while it remains a driver for the ecosystem.
If the demo was like the full game I truly hope they made the font bigger because it was ridiculously small in the demo.
But now with the 10 euros increase they can easily raise the prices for GP too, they already have the excuse ready with inflation and all and GP still being a top-notch proposal in terms of value/driver for the ecosystem.
I guess weâll see, everything is on the table now after this IMO - GP and hardware increases included.
The enthusiasts have proven that they are ok with it and thatâs why publishers have adopted it quickly. Even if you lose some enthusiasts who will now wait for sales, the ones who still buy day one will still give you more revenue because theyâre paying $70 or more.
They can always increase prices, the point is where is their sweetspot for maximum profit without negative press? Waiting two years to match the industry is the same thing they did with the 360 generation, when they held out on $50 for a while until finally going up to $60.
They talked about having to increase things, that turned out to be this. By far the lesser of three evils. They didnât up the price on hardware like their competitor and havenât upped the price on their sub yet.
I think there will definitely be opposition to hardware increase, and GP increase at least in the next 2-3 years as well.
PS5 exclusives like R&C, Demonâs Souls and Returnal at 80 euros didnât do too well so far, I guess weâll see in the future how this will go for MS.
Sure they can always increase prices but I am not happy about it. As I said weâll see in the future how this will go for them and if the price raises will stop at the games. Also curious to see what the new pricing will be on Steam for the 1st party games.
It will match the Windows store, which will match console. There is no way their games on Steam and EGS moving forward donât match in price with everywhere else.
Steam is where they might face opposition. Sure you can play it on PC Game Pass but Steam users mostly want to be on Steam.
They canât break their pricing like that. Where their own store is $10 more than a third party site they make far less profit on.
I honestly think MS would actually consider pricing something like R&C and Returnal at $40-50
Pretty much the only game getting away with $70 on Steam is CoD. As I said in another thread, plenty of games are $60 on PC and $70 on console. They will actually be the outlier on Steam from the looks of things.
$60 on PC and $70 on console⌠They already charge online to only console users, whatâs a few more âuneven ecosystemsâ matterâŚ
$60 on PC and $70 on console is a really funny thing because it shows that the only reason this happens is because console users are easy to swindle.
Yeah, if games on Xbox cost 70$, you canât feel the true premium anymore
I thought it was a joke when I saw that first tweet, then saw the text. They really are? Aight then
Yeah theres an article on it:
https://www.usgamer.net/articles/sony-reportedly-discussed-raising-game-prices-above-70
Microsoft has announced another ID@Xbox demo event will start this week, running from December 6th-12th, and most of the demos set to be included are already available for download, meaning you can try them out early!
Itâs not an excuse. I pay just as little for Xbox games after this as I did before. What has changed? If Sony had a Game Pass of their own and we had given them shit, yes youâd be right. But they donât soâŚ
And for no reason? They have a few good reasons: It raises the value of Game Pass and makes it even more attractive and thatâs what they want to sell. It also, funnily enough, gives Xbox games more status. The price difference is making Xbox games look worth less than PS games. Itâs stupid, but itâs how it is with people.
Yeah and there is Game Pass on PC too. I have even less understanding of Steam-muppets (Store front-fans, really?) than I do cultists.
