Oh, I see. Well, it was only 6 month exclusivity right?
Im not sure when the game came out tbh, im assuming it was for a year
At least with Nintendo, they play fair or at least Capcom does. Honestly didnât expect Game Pass day one though. Thatâs a shocker. If we trade places with Capcom from Square, then yes please.
I wonder how many people - who would rather buy it on Xbox or PS bought it on Switch? I guess it is included in such low price too.
Now they can double dip
Rise came out in March 2021, so closer to 1.5 years.
Yeah thereâs the double dip aspect like Persona
But not being everywhere you miss the increased exposure of it being everywhere/more people talking about it at launch
Oh, I see. Interesting. Only on Switch it got 12m. Impressive
It was on PC too but not sure if that was at launch or later
It might have been a âSwitch canât run the existing versions so letâs make a new one for itâ kind of situation though?
If Nintendo went to them and said we will help fund a MH for switch that you can release elsewhere afterwards cus our hardware sucks then fair play to them, nothing wrong with that
Itâs straight up crappy moneyhats that annoy me, still not as bad as Sony with their GP clauses tho
I ten d to agree with ACG a lot and I think hes one of the best reviewers out there. if hes saying its not to great wellâŚthat sucks. They should of taken that gamepass deal
Probably couldnât. It was helped by Sony.
MH Rise (and Stories 2) skipping PS/Xbox originally was down to focus testing going by the Capcom data leak. The 6 million was for marketing deal purposes and keeping the game off PC only for a little bit (was not even a year). The game was actually never planned for PS/Xbox.
Not sure what spurred on this new port, they may have been caught off guard by the sales and this is them straggling to get it ported quickly (which I think helps explain why itâs digital only and Sunbreak isnât immediately included), another very plausible reason I think, is that MS approached Capcom and paid for a Game Pass port and release, and Capcom figured theyâd put it on PS as well if theyâre bringing it to a next gen console anyway. The idea from the focus test groups that it wouldnât be popular on PS/Xbox sounds silly coming off of World, yes, but I can sort of see it, with the game having âworse graphicsâ and being âJapan focusedâ (the main market for Rise was always Japan, another reason for Switch exclusivity). Focus test groups can often be out of touch with how receptive the market can actually be to something.
I see, thatâs interesting about the focus testing stuff, thanks
I donât trust reviews from the media in general but horror games specifically even more so, TEW1 for example had some âjankâ, got criticized for itâs difficulty and itâs combat, overall it wasnât the most polished game but itâs one of my favorite games ever and it got a sub-80% metacritic score on release as well. What is interesting and kinda confusing though is that before the reviews hit those who played the game early had only positive things to say about the gameâŚeven the cynics at otherera wrote some positive impressions. lol
I will get the game in a few hours and I am planning to dive in tonight for good, Maximum Security here I come! If anything the mixed reviews made me even more curious about the game, canât wait to see what all the fuss is about.
I enjoyed EW, itâs got some jank and the story is really out there, I didnât have a clue what was going on lol but overall itâs a very solid game
But after watching Skill Ups review I donât see it getting the more cult status EW got, the combat just does not look fun whatsoever, not to mention there seems to be little to no exploration
EW with itâs flaws still managed to get basic combat and exploration right
TEW biggest hurdle to me was the fact the expectation was extraordinary high. Coming off of the masterpiece that is Resident Evil 4, you either do good or you die.
Skill Up spent 10 minutes on his DOOM Eternal review bitching about the Marauder so yeahâŚI am not taking this guy seriously about anything gaming related anymore. lol
I am sure that if we search enough we will find videos from games with amazing mechanics like Halo, Gears and Bayonetta that look boring and not fun so yeah watching someone else play especially a horror game is not always the best way to judge it IMO.
About the cult status, weâll see about that in a few years. I think itâs still a bit early to tell anything about that especially without even playing the game. It might be mediocre and all but Iâll have to play it first before coming to conclusions.
