Even in that case, it seems like they donât always have marketing deals even if a game is day 1 GP. Wo Long marketing seems pretty neutral to me. Sometimes it being day 1 GP doesnât even get mentioned.
Unless Sony is funding and publishing it and helping work on it like Nioh and Ronin, 0. Koei doesnât take moneyhats.
Microsoft funded NG4 is something Iâd love to see. A game to appeal to the hardcore crowd + an amazing âE3 of Dreamsâ tier fan-service announcement. But as I said the other day I donât think MS is funding IPs they donât own anymore. Especially since you just know Ninja Gaiden Sigma 4 as a full multiplat would happen a year later.
I have worries about how thisâll turn out, as @Fiendflag said. If itâs heavily Souls inspired or too Nioh-ish then they missed the point. I hope they see that DMC5 sold quite a lot and is a purely action game.
IDK what to say about DOA7. I think they gotta figure out if the game is for waifu fans or not. DOA6 tried pleasing everybody and thus pleased nobody there lol. Oh, and the monetization, relent on that, holy shit, DOA6 has like $2500 worth of DLC.
Graphics quality is the last thing I am worried about. Wo Long & Rise of the Ronin both look more than fine to me.
Hopefully they will be able to deliver a game worthy of the name and fame of the franchise. The combat engine (strategic dismemberment and the amazing looking gore included) and weapon selection of NG2 are still two of the best things in the whole genre, if they can build on that foundation it can turn out something really great though I am not holding my breath. I think that they will probably change things a lot to appease to newer audiences, letâs hope the results will be at least interesting.
I donât think we will get a E3 of dreams moment. Microsoft does not understand what is it and also unless Game Pass is attached, I donât think we can expect the announcement on E3.
The funny thing that âE3 of Dreamsâ wasnât that great in hindsight
Shenmue 3 was a dud
FF7R came out 5 years later
It would be neat to have a real E3 of Dreams for Xbox, but alas. They have potential, but I donât expect that the timings of all the games will align (especially with 1 year from release approach).
I do wonder what E3 of Dreams can Xbox potentially have?
There was DOA6? I did not even know. DOA is essentially slightly simplified VF with fanservice and in the modern era it can be done right. People love cosmetics.
We saw in their recent announcements that even japanese releases are tied to Game Pass - Persona, Wo Long, Guilty Gear.
I agree that itâs not a good idea but at the same time, the vast majority of their marketing deals turned out to blow up in their faces. Cyberpunk 2077, Battlefield 2042, Anthem just to name a few so I understand Microsoftâs point of view.
I prefer day one Game Pass deals for third party multi-platform games more than anything. If they canât get this and pass on it as a result, then so be it.
Agreed. I prefer this direction over only marketing deals. However, I do think they should get marketing deals for Star Wars Jedi Survivor, Wonder Woman and other licensed properties and market them as if theyâre exclusives even though theyâre not. Non-licensed games outside of GTA, they donât need to bother.
Day one Game Pass games could be neutral at times which is very weird in my opinion.
You are asking for too much But their new approach will certainly lead to more gameplay (strange that Wo Long had no gameplay but whatever) in the future.
I do agree that âE3 of Dreamsâ was kinda laughable in hindsight but the important part is that it gives âhardcore gamersâ the impression that the company knows about them/is listening to them and âunderstands video gamesâ. That might all sound stupid but itâs important because said audience are often the loudest in online gaming circles lol.
I think a highly agreed upon thing is doing something with Lost Odyssey is another thing that would fit this bill. I still donât really know who would develop it though.
What was the last big third party exclusive for Xbox? I donât recall any for Series, so definitely Xbox One. Recore? Iâm not sure, but itâs been a long time ago. It seems weâre never going to see something of the size of Ryse, So or DR3 anymore and it not coming to Game Pass immediately. Hopefully more and more devs become more open to the idea of launching on Game Pass. Maybe Game Pass becoming bigger and bigger with releases like Starfield will help that.
I think neither Ryse, nor Recore nor DR3 were big third party exclusives as they were Xbox exclusive games funded by MS. The only big third party that I can remember - like recognizable big IP - was RoTR and it did not go well.
I think our only hope is either big Game Pass deal (granted I donât think that happening for any really big game) or just acquisition of a third party. Thatâs all to it.
