Sure, if we treat games like Oscars by focusing on story rather than game play foundation. But in all seriousness, it has to be like Uncharted 2 of the series, not 3. Not saying 3 is bad but it was more of “more of Uncharted” rather than “evolution.”
I think Elden Ring will be TGA GOTY and GOWR overall.
my GOTY my choice
I think the big thing they need to work on is enemy variety .
God of War as a series already had an “Uncharted 2” moment way before Uncharted 2 was a thing with God of War 2. GoW 2018 had a good foundation that if they improved some things in the new game (like bosses, enemy variety and have a decent difficulty curve in the more challenging settings) can turn out a really great game (GoW 2018 was already very good). Only thing that I don’t want to see is a focus on the “RPG” BS…I don’t think those added anything worthwhile in the previous game.
I mean, Xbox has pretty active Xbox (I am not talking about regional accounts), Xbox Game Pass, etc. + all other Twitter accounts with insiders and so on.
In general Xbox Twitter sphere is very splintered.
Sheesh man, both Sony and Nintendo having a rather strong year this year and Xbox was supposed to have one too, first party wise. Just feels bad man, damn.
But here’s to 2023 for what really should be a strong year for them if everything goes as planned. Starfield and Redfall are a lock, just have to wait and see if both truly are in the first half. And if Avowed maybe could close the year that would be damn good.
I probably shouldn’t hopen too much for any big Game Pass surprises either, big ones that is. We’ve just had the big show.
Next year drop for Game Pass will littered with Activision Blizzard games. That’s a strong start.
Oh yes, that is something I look forward to. If the deal closes early next year that would be great. Was taking about this with buddies the other day and one said it would be a big moment to just during E3 say “oh and all the ABK games? All on Game Pass starting right now.”
Sure, would be a nice moment, but better would be if it’s way sooner, and it probably will be.
The God of War announcement is going to resurface every aspect of Xbox gamer anxiety, how lovely.
Next year besides the 3rd party goodies on Game Pass (plus the upcoming Acti-Blizz catalog) we are going to at the very least have Redfall, Forza Motorsport and Starfield from 1st party. Sounds great to me!
Dont forget diablo 4!! God how I whished I could put hundreds and hundreds of hours to this game.
I still think there could be surprise additions - not likely AAA, but still good nonetheless IMO.
Just as an example, PowerWash Simulator was announced for GP yesterday and it is releasing next week.
Hogwarts Legacy solos.
I finally caved and bought an LG C1 and in the immortal words of George Takei, Oh My!
I’ve never owned a tv larger than 50", so I wasn’t prepared for how much larger the 65" is despite literally everyone saying I would be surprised by the difference.
I’ve been fiddling with settings for the last few hours and I think I finally have it the way I want it and to put it simply, 4K HDR content looks incredible. The lower bitrate 1080p movies on my plex server however, now look like shit, lol.
As for my earlier concerns about experiencing stuttering with 24fps content, I can see it sometimes, but it’s honestly not nearly as gross as I thought it might be and is only really noticeable in specific scenarios.
I will say that a part of me wants to go back to my old tv because I’ve been so used to semi-muted colors and a lack of severe contrast that has always been what movies are supposed to look like to me (think matte photo vs glossy photo). I’m also very resistant to any type of change, so I’m sure everything will seem “normal” to me after a few weeks.
Lastly, I haven’t tried out too many games yet. Halo Infinite looked really nice and the gameplay just felt “better” is the way I would describe it. Also, FH5 looked nice but not as eye-bleeding as I thought it would, but the conditions were cloudy and it was changing into evening, so the sun wasn’t there to make things “pop”. I did however notice that the game felt faster. On my old tv, when going at super high speeds, everything to the sides would just blur together. I thought this was just part of the game, but apparently not. Getting up to high speeds on the C1, everything looked incredibly smooth and I was kind of shocked at the difference. My only concern was noticing a weird “bubble” around my car where the world was properly rendered while everything outside that bubble was less rendered. While driving, there would be this distinct line where the bubble ended and the road and surroundings would transition from less rendered to properly rendered and it was incredibly distracting. Anyone else experience this?
Anyway, I really like the tv and I think the positives outweigh the negatives so far. If any of you have any tips or tricks to get the best out of your gaming and/or film watching experience, please let me know!
You NEED to download Ori WotW right now, it’s the best showcase of HDR on a OLED. You can get it running in 6K/60 with HDR it just looks stunning.
Another game I like is The Division 2, the HDR looks great and the game just looks extremely sharp and clean image quality wise.
@Shadowgasm Have fun with your new baby! Also play Gears 5, it looks amazing!
edit: Ori 2 and Tetris Effect look crazy too!
Will it though? But I do expect a lot of people getting gifs from GoWR with great graphics to rub into Xbox face.
