XboxEra Community Hangout |OT8| Waiting for E3 2023

Director of Communications @Obsidian

This is almost a copy of what they said last year, but it was specifically about Avowed then.,lol.

Maybe it’s still about Avowed since they didn’t show it

Who knows. I do wonder what happened with Avowed though, considering that allegedly it supposed to be shown soon last year, it was already could be shown on the last year, Jez saw some footage and now it is at least won’t be coming out until July 2023…

I do hope it will have amazing graphics when it’s out though.

It’s only a matter of time that Tencent launch their own subscription service, they are already working with all major TV manufacturers to create an app too.

I think Tencent will be more competitive than Sony moving forward so I can’t see Xbox slowing down with their acquisitions.

I wonder what are the specifics of this tech engine that makes it cloud native. Something like Game Stack-like tools integration?

But yeah, Tencent will be a strong competitor to whatever Microsoft is doing so they have to move fast and acquire more.

Wait is P3 and P4 not coming to PS5 ?

It’ll run the PS4 version. P5R says PS5 because it’s getting upgrades.

Ugh, Xbox skipped for megaman battle network collection. I guess I’ll get it for switch, but no clue why capcom skipped xbox

Capcom didn’t even bother to release the Great Ace Attorney Chronicles on Xbox. I guess only the big IPs are released on Xbox and smaller IPs or spin-offs are a coin toss.

I wonder if game releases depend on the directors involved.

Yeah, I guess don’t expect the smaller IPs on xbox, which sucks. I would’ve bought this on xbox for sure, but yeah I think we’re getting the opposite of Square with them. Square usually release their smaller stuff on xbox, but don’t release their bigger games, and Capcom always releases their bigger games on xbox.

I think it’s more about the player base. I know it’s not the best indicator, but looking at the playerbase at Trueachievements most Mega Man games are around 5k players.

That was a fine Nintendo Direct. Really liked the bit from Rabbids and then they said there will be another showcase for that game tomorrow. Game looks cool too. This is exactly what I’d love to see from Xbox. Just a stream now and then, lasting about 30 minutes and just updates. Basically mini versions of their E3 shows I guess.

And it’s not like I will be bothering with all of those games, I’ll likely just buy them for Xbox, just not a big Switch player, but it was a good stream.

The point of player base is that game developers supposed to grow it. You can’t grow it by selling them to the same people.

Microsoft really have to come up with some solution regarding these japanese publishers. Xbox is not reliable platform as of now.

Oh god please dont start with the ā€œomg they said soon 2 weeks ago and it’s not here?!!??ā€ Crap that happened before lol Xbox devs should know well and truly they can’t say anything without it being under a 1000x microscope, written down in 13 notebooks and saved to a million one note cloud accounts so it’s never lost or forgotten. Might be a little dramatic but, gotta fight fire with fire :joy:

Not much they can do except fund these ports, which may not sell. Not every dev is interested in gamepass, so it’s tricky to sell these smaller titles on xbox. However, I would’ve thought with series X/S market share they could convince publishers to take a risk

Does anybody else think it’s kinda sus that Persona 5 is coming out on Switch now as well? It makes me think that PlayStation did have some exclusivity agreement after all. As far as I know it was assumed that Atlus just slipped other consoles due to install base and popularity of PS, but this is making me rethink that. What do we think?

I wonder where was Avowed on Hindle timeline  At this stage I will just treat Avowed as Obsidian’s Everwild :joy:

Well going by FF nothing shocks me in the terms of timed exclusives
