XboxEra Community Hangout |OT8| Waiting for E3 2023

I remember visiting Australia in 2012 and I walked into EB Games and was like holy cow how do people afford video games here. The sony game prices there now are insane. Not to mention Sony doesn’t do regional pricing on their steam releases whereas xbox does.

Our higher minimum wage does help, though there is a thing known as the Australian tax where companies add a little extra on top. There was at some point where it was cheaper to book a flight to USA buy Adobe boxed software then fly back to Australia than to just buy it in Australia…

Not the news I wanted to wake up to, but I’m more glad than ever that I picked up a PS5 a few weeks ago.

Sony continues to give MS more opportunity to raise their own prices. I wonder if they’ll take this one, or if they’ll go the exact opposite route and we see 250 USD Series S’s this holiday…

I’ve been wondering about $70 games, do they bump the price of games to $70 and leave game pass or do they up the price of both.

Sure, but they should take advantage of this situation. This is a rare golden opportunity that Sony is giving to Microsoft.

I don’t think Microsoft is necessarily gonna follow and up their prices - but I also think they’ll probably keep quiet and not make a fuss about it just in case they do end up raising prices. I mean I get the feeling that is what they are doing with their game prices - they’ve not increased their prices to 70$ but they also haven’t made it a big talking point or officially commented on it either. Still though - even just keeping their prices the same and letting their audience do the advertising for them is probably gonna benefit them here.

Xbox should reduce the price of both consoles 20 bucks. just to stick it to sony. make it a promotion though the end of the year. if sony does nothing then they still look bad. if sony were to match it in the usa then they still look like jerks as they raised it in other countries. I do wonder if xbox would increase the priice but I dont think they will

Well, they haven’t increased their game prices yet either.

Xbox didnt raise their game prices and actively promotes using the all access plan which is extremely cheap. They are also about to sell a game pass family plan where you can get the service for 5 dollars. It is hard for me to see xbox raising their prices anytime soon.

Kinda random but the EDF series is still bigger than I thought. Microsoft should try to get it back on Xbox, it was on the 360 after all.

D3Publisher is the developer and they are Bandai Namco owned too, I would think that would make it easier?

yeah, game pass family plan showed us that game pass prices will stay the same for at least the near future.

They are targeting those areas because they have the mindset there tbh. Abusing their market power.

If they were not in a 50/50 battle for the US then it would be included too.

It’s been said, but MS raising prices too would cause Xbox to suffer way more than PlayStation will. The legions willing to carry Sony’s water is a hell of a shield for all their questionable decisions.

In all the markets where xbox isn’t really a threat to them. Aint that something.

It didn’t exactly say it in the trailer but it looks like it’s still on track to release this year. https://twitter.com/mundfish/status/1562810691366502403?s=20&t=64ZRICAwpQ9e3EcsjfG4_w

The (and i usually hate this phrase but…) damage control going on at Twitter is some next level shit. This is why i call them a cult at this point.

Would be awesome if this actually drops in one of the “ber” months. Probably december. I’d be surprised too since MS ceased all business with Russia.
