I guess Nick’s info about no big third party didn’t pan out, or maybe Microsoft kept it secret enough until this leak. Because this is massive if it turns out to be true!

I think it probably implies that you can play the games you own via xCloud. Not Elden Ring in Game Pass.

Nick’s info was that there wasn’t any big unannounced third party AAA games coming to game pass day one this year - not that we wouldn’t get any third party games at all. As Sun has already pointed out though this isn’t Elden ring being added to game pass - they’re adding the ability to play certain games that you already own through Xcloud if you have gamepass, including elden ring.

Were people really expecting MS to have more big 3rd party titles for GP this year? Its not like there is many big AAA games coming the rest of the year anyway

Some have been delayed and the rest are either locked up with Sony marketing or aren’t particularly hyped titles

Because running servers is not free. F2P games generate revenue due to monetization (more people - more revenue). That’s not the case with the titles you own. Basically the situation where recurring revenue > banger

I guess free to play is a major opportunity to bring people into the eco-system, so they’re willing to take a loss by letting people use their cloud tech free. This is just a bonus feature for people who already have game pass.

I think eventually they could and should offer a cheaper separate way (tier/fee) to play owned games on Cloud without GP or Ultimate necessarily.

It is free, just using your own console.

If you want to use xCloud then you have to subscribe to the tier that includes xCloud. The F2P Fortnite was a special partnership where Epic likely pays Microsoft so the gamers don’t have to. If other F2P titles want that same setup, they can negotiate a contract with Microsoft too.

Well, Microsoft will own a bunch of them soon. Is Halo multiplayer available via cloud? They will own Overwatch, COD and so on.

Campaign but not Multiplayer that I can tell. But I have not loaded it to see if one can navigate into MP.
