XboxEra Community Hangout |OT8| Waiting for E3 2023

totally agree. Xbox is going to have a great gen. They already are. I think 2023 is going to be good for them and us

Yeah, PS2 + OG Xbox (+ technically GC); PS3 + Xbox 360; PS4 + Xbox One…Home console market has a limit and unless new markets are open (but most of them are mobile or PC first), the overall amount of consoles will be similar.

Factoring in Nintendo, the console market seems to cap at between 200-270m units for each generation

60-70% market share could be argued against period lol. I don’t see how they can argue that when GeForce Now has 14 million subscribers alone. Id like to see who exactly they included in that because it seems very slanted to make the numbers say what they want.

They can broaden the subscription market to ā€œentertainment marketā€ and then gaming subscription will amount to nothing.

Hmmm…as far as games go isn’t Miles a big Phantom Dust fan so Phantom Dust 2? or is Nick talking about a Sekiro 2 announcement since Miles (IIRC) likes Fromsoft games? OK I’ll admit the Sekiro 2 prediction/hope and dream is far-fetched but hope dies last! :stuck_out_tongue: :gimme:

Maybe Legend of Mana coming to Xbox

Even if they keep it at gaming subscription market the 60-70% is an outright lie. Here’s some hard numbers for the gaming subscription market.

  • PS Plus 42 million
  • Nintendo Online 32 million
  • GeForce Now 14 million
  • EA Play 13 million

Heck Microsoft can even probably expand it to include Apple Arcade (over 20 million) and Google Play (couldn’t find the numbers).

That too! would be great news, I’ve always wanted to play a game in the Mana series and the remaster looks pretty decent.

Would be cool if there’s XO22 this year. Hopefully with some stuff that was missing at E3. But we’ll see.

Ok…

But Sony complaining about a market where they themselves doesn’t compare makes any sense ?

I mean they themselves Doesn’t offer day and date. How come is it Xbox fault that they are the only ones in the market?

What even is Phantom Dust? Is it an RPG?

They canceled the one that was in development, just leave it there I say.

I never played it myself but I believe its a third person action/shooter that determines your loadout and skills based on cards you collect and equip

I remember looking into it a bit years ago when the remaster thing was announced and I can see why it had a cult following, a modern version has huge potential that im surprised they havnt tried to do anything with it as it could easily bring in that GaaS money

Just like with Bethesda, my opinion remains the same for ABK. Excluding contractual obligations, all future games will be exclusive as they should be to Xbox/PC/Cloud. I believe that COD MW 2, Warzone 2, Overwatch 2 and Diablo IV will be multi-platform and well, that’s it. No previously released game will ever be removed from PSN unless it’s some kind of licensing issue that Microsoft doesn’t want to renew/extend. These games will also be supported post launch ala The Elder Scrolls Online and Fallout 76. I do wish that Diablo IV was exclusive to Xbox/PC/Cloud since it’s the only game thus far from ABK that I care about or at the very least, was a current generation only title even if it’s multi-platform.

Anyway, I believe that COD skips 2023. Returns in 2024 at the Xbox Games Showcase and like Starfield/Redfall a year ago, will be said to be fully console exclusive. I believe that it will be a platform game and with the fiscal year starting a few weeks after this showcase in July 2024, this event is where you will also see Microsoft finally eliminate Gold, merge all those subscribers into Game Pass Ultimate for the duration of their remaining subscription and make online co-op/multi-player completely free.

The only game I see as bigger than COD is GTA and if Microsoft truly wants to grow Game Pass, Xbox and their platform and eco-system, having COD fully exclusive to them is how you do it.

This is obviously my prediction/opinion. I don’t believe that Microsoft or anyone will comment on COD being exclusive or multi-platform until all contracts are fulfilled which won’t happen for at least two more games.

As for COD MW 2 going on Game Pass, I don’t see this happening until the contract and marketing deal with Sony expires which my guess based on Resident Evil VIII: Village is at least one year minimum.

Obviously, it’s all a wait and see but like with Bethesda, im staying with my original prediction.
