There was a time I would have been really sad about Square going exclusive but not anymore
Final Fantasy is already exclusive and far from what I consider to be Final Fantasy anymore and half the other IPs skip xbox anyway, nothing of value is lost as far as my tastes are concerned especially now that the western division will be multiplat with Embracer
Keeps Sony away from Capcom as well which is really the only one that id be concerned about
It would be a big blow to Nintendo though and straight up kills Square in Japan if they do go exclusive
Yeah, I donât feel like weâd be missing much either anymore. Dragon Quest probably wonât be part of it, right? Wouldnât be shocked at all if by end of this year SE is at Sony. Or well, announced to be joining.
The only thing that Sony is interested there is FF. The same way as with Capcom where they are interested only in RE. SE is doing brain-dead decision to make FF PS5 exclusive, but if they are expected to be acquired then it would make sense.
But two questions
if Sony wanted to buy SE, why would they moneyhat SE games?
I would think that Switch 2 will be much more powerful than the current Switch. I can see it being on the level of One X and maybe even Series S but not at the level of PS5 or XSX. Nintendo doesnât like losing money on hardware. But who knows, maybe they go with power???
Just have to wait and see. I wouldnât be shocked though if a Switch âProâ model gets released next year as a stopgap until Switch 2.
Square is definitely reliant on FF more than anything else but Capcom is way more than RE, Monster Hunter is absolutely huge and Street Fighter 6 will probably be the biggest one yet
No issue with Sony acquiring Square Enix. If thereâs one publisher Sony acquires, my money would be on Square Enix because they seem to be a perfect fit for each other.
A lot of the smaller games they publish though will be dead either because Sony has no interest in them or because they will be dead sales wise in Japan if they are PS only
