If you think that is crazy then think about the fact that Gamepass enables more sales. Xbox stated Gamepass users spend 40% more than non-gamepass Xbox users. People are buying more after paying for the subscription not to mention hardware and merch sales they get.

Yep lol, used to defend Crackdown 3 and all of that lmao. Switched to the PS side and his subs/views skyrocketed from there.

Oh wow.

Yup! He was pretty gung ho about it until a couple of years ago where he all of a sudden became a Sony evangelist and started hating on xbox pretty hard. Im sure his change of heart had nothing to do with his channel slowly dying or anything like that.

The only good PS focused guy I can think of is Mr. Bad Bit. He actually has sources and can be correct on rumors. Everyone else from MBG to Crap are clowns. Even Greg miller man that guy is dumb. he has such a good position in the industry yet doesn’t seem to know much about it. I use to watch is show all the time and he would state things that would be outright wrong about xbox/or nintendo. Even Ryan Mcafree from IGN doesn’t seem to know things that I feel 95% of us here would know

I like Matty and follow him on YouTube and Twitter. I don’t want Xbox guys (or PlayStation guys for that matter) to always be kissing Microsoft’s ass. I want a good 50/50 ratio which is what Matty provides. Also, majority here seem to take his negative videos personally or to heart for some odd reason.

I understand his subscription video because I don’t want only subscription. I don’t want to be limited or restricted to just one way of playing games. I want disc, digital and subscription to always exist.

Some stuff is great about subscriptions but then other stuff is bad. Cheap price, hundreds of games and value is great. Having to being connected online no matter what game you’re playing isn’t. Possibly getting less games from a development studio because the one game they make is a platform as opposed to just a single one and done game and then, move on to your next freaking games is also a negative.

Also for me, if there’s no new games day one im interested in, I basically would then having nothing to play if subscription is the only option. All three (disc, digital and subscription) should be available as long as possible.

Overall, there’s plenty of positives and negatives.

Yep boy those youtubers can be toxic and its hilarious for channels that have popped up to make fun of them

That’s one expensive cherry on the cake

Yeah I saw the video in my subs section and thought…nah, I’m good.

One of the new Games with Gold isn’t bad at all.

Another Sight. 2.5D, about a girl and her cat. You can control both, get to places only the cat can get to, and as the girl you got puzzles to do to help the cat as well. There’s a 4K option in the settings. Not bad at all so far.

We shouldn’t brush off these GwG too quickly.

I haven’t played it yet, and hadn’t even heard about it when it was announced as a GwG, but I was instantly intrigued after looking at the screenshots and description. Glad to hear it’s worth checking out.

I am pretty sure that most of us want more choices on how to play our games but we don’t know how the market will react to the subscriptions in the future. If the Xbox fanbase is an indication and people continue to buy games just fine even if they have a sub with hundreds of games available the publishers will continue to sell games normally even if they make them available on a sub. Phil said many times on the subject that he believes giving more options to customers is the best option to go forward (which absolutely is). The funny thing is that from all the platform holders MS (which pioneered this idea in gaming) is the only one that doesn’t have content locked behind a sub while Nintendo and Sony do that just fine.

About the GAAS thing I agree that it probably won’t stay that way for long, those games will probably gonna cannibalize each other (which is another thing that Phil also stated) so putting all your eggs as a publisher/platform holder on this basket won’t be the smartest thing. I believe that the road to success is variety and having options, that means genre, business and purchase wise. I am one of the crazy dudes that will happily spend 60 euros on a 10-15 hour game like Dead Space 2, The Evil Within or Vanquish but I know very well that I am in the minority nowadays. Hopefully Phil will see the benefit of having such experiences on Game Pass and Xbox continues to be hands off with what the MS teams want to make…and to be bit more optimistic here if the safety net of Game Pass can encourage such experiences then all the better, this will be the best case scenario IMO.

I am pretty sure the most of people wanted more choices when PC was going digital but nowadays people don’t want choice on PC even - just everything in Steam. Convenience always wins.

I think just like with Game Pass, GaaS games will be enjoyed by a lot of people - but just the amount of time in each and every game will be limited. I mean now in Game Pass, people’s habits are slowly changing to “play a little bit here and there”. And I think the game loops will be designed around that.

Mystic Ryan always seemed chill as well.

I am talking about choices within the Xbox ecosystem (buying digital, retail and playing via GP) which is something Phil agrees that it’s the best plan going forward. Also I am pretty sure that if Epic and Sweeney made an attractive proposition with their store and not try to moneyhat everything under the sun for 2 years PC gamers would’ve been way more positive about it.

Sure it could be this way too but in the end we will see how things turn out when more and more games turn into GaaS, it’s too early to tell at this point.

Choice within Xbox ecosystem will also change with time. It is inevitable.

Today I got some mail I’m pretty excited about

A little hint of what this could be

Alright no more teasing: it’s The Legend of Heroes: Kuro no Kiseki SPRIGGAN Edition. My first time buying a PS4 game since 13 Sentinels Aegis Rim back in 2020. Time to dust off that PS4 (that hasn’t been powered on for the entirety of 2021 )

Normally I do not go for special editions of games… But this was actually CHEAPER than the standard version over at Amazon.jp. for $85 (after tax and shipping) Canadian I got this. For the standard edition it would have been $90 (this is how much a new game is in Canada after tax so I wasn’t paying a premium here). Yeah, I don’t get it either . I actually don’t even know what this includes besides the game. The box is this thick though

Anyway the fan translation spreadsheet will be released tomorrow so I’m very excited to play the next chapter in my favorite JRPG series!!!

But Microsoft doesn’t only want subscription, because having both a sub and a store generates more money than either alone would, because of how well they complement each other. I wouldn’t be surprised if Netflix made a store of their own in the future to offer their content their subscribers and people that aren’t subbed.
