It could have been, it looked damn good too, but Disney said no, just like they said no to 1313, sigh.

I do look very forward to the next game by the Monster Boy studio.

Lord almighty!

On a serious note…could they announce the new ones in the weekend or will that be Monday?

They will probably announce them on Tuesday.

But why does it have BF2042 like that’s impossible to happen lol

55% of digital sales were on Xbox. And it seems with physical and digital it was 50/50 basically.

They are getting information second hand in this scenario though.

How cool it would be if future Microsoft tiers looked like this (after they dropped Gold)

  • PC Game Pass: PC + EA Play 10$
  • Xbox Game Pass: Xbox + EA Play 10$
  • Game Pass Ultimate: PC + Xbox + XCloud + EA Play + Ubisoft+ 15$
  • Game Pass Family: Game Pass Ultimate + 5 people sharing, 25$

I do believe that Ubisoft+ is not happening as EA Play Pro is not in Game Pass either.

Would be interesting to see pure cloud / mobile tiers. With cloud stick + mobile and possible mobile perks I wonder what other tiers might be there.

And they said that, no? Whether it happens today, tomorrow, next week or in the months ahead i fully expect Sony to acquire a publisher but ive always thought that, even before the madness of this week.

The age old adage applies. If Grubb isn’t putting it to text, it’s just a rumour and not a leak.

Yes they said that, but it’s important to the interpretation of the information. It’s ā€œI heard it going around in groupsā€ which isn’t a ton different than the E3 run up of last year IMO.

Whether you think it’ll happen or not in the future doesn’t really mean a ton when discussing the validity of these particular rumors though. It probably will, and Microsoft will probably buy another one too.

What are the exact words Grubb said? He often says things like ā€œI think we’ll see this game at E3ā€ but he’s also said things that sounded that it wasn’t just his expectation. He said he heard from sources? Did he also give a expected day for this that we learn more?

Thanks!

Grubb said he heard it’s big and Greg then goes that he heard it’s really big.

Well, if it turns out to be true then it’s clearly not just going to be another Haven or Firebright studio, more perhaps like a publisher.

We’ll see.

All I can say is cross Konami from your mind as there are so, so many factors that would make Sony not even look in their direction, and also Konami is doing extremely fine right now so they aren’t looking for a buyer either.

I wish it was them though, it would ā€œhurtā€ the least compared to many others.

Sun already linked the video but someone on reddit transcribed the whole thing so I’m gonna throw that in too, the final quote is probably the main point of interest. Is it just me or does it potentially read as "None of us know what the actual acquisition is, we’re just being told ā€œbig acquisitionā€. Anyway, on with the copy and pasting:

Today Greg said the following on the latest episode of Kinda Funny Games daily:

There was three rumours I’d heard come Sunday right? Number one obviously being PlayStation Plus Spartacus stuff which we’ve heard about non-stop and all the stars aligning. Number one, there was that which again was like it was finally happening. Number two was a PlayStation VR 2 thing and it was all smoke and mirrors, that was not actually a thing at all like when I came on the show Monday with you and Bless that was the one I had my inklings, I had this thing. I don’t want to give it away because there’s this thing that could happen that gives away certain information and it did not turn out to be anything so that’s why that went away.

His co-host chimes in here and says the reason Greg doesn’t want to give it away is because he wants ā€˜them’ to ā€œfuck it up in the futureā€. Greg responds saying:

I’ve seen them fuck it up in the past. I’ve seen them fuck it up in the past.

Greg talks about the third rumour:

The third thing I heard over the weekend was rumours and this is one of those really shitty one because it could be true next week, it could be true in a month and half, it could be. Whatever. I don’t know. Acquisition, and I had heard that from multiple people that there’s a Sony acquisition in the works coming up soon.

Jeff Grubb jumps in:

The PSVR 2 thing, I’ve had it explained how that happened and I’m like ok, I would’ve done the same thing. You were like, I could see how these things come together and then the internet runs with everything and completely takes the football into the end zone but it’s an end zone they created themselves and completely fabricated out of nothing. The acquisition one is very difficult as it’s a difficult one to pin down. People can get word on that stuff, but the people who usually know are usually legally bound not to say anything so we’re probably getting second hand information at best. I’ve heard it’s big.

Greg chimes in and says:

Yes, so we’re sharing information here. I’ve heard from two separate sources, and one of those sources being a pool of people that it’s big. It’s really big. So I’m like alright I’m going to delay the show, put it out there and see if it happens this week. Then again it could be completely fucking nothing because of like what you’re saying. Think of every acquisition that came before, did we have rumours? No because it’s fucking insider trading garbage to worry about.

Jeff continues:

You’re right. I’m hearing it from multiple people too and they’re like ā€œno somebody from Sony says this is going to happenā€ and ā€œI’m like oh well is it this thingā€ and they’re like ā€œI don’t know thatā€. I’m not going to write a story about this on GamesBeat, that’s where I’m at like this is not going to be a story where I put my name to a byline and say any of these things are actually going to come together, but I do get wanting to share this stuff with people because it’s exciting.

Believe me I want a lot of those IPs back but Konami decided to transfer into making games heavily catered to the Japanese market (they don’t even localize them) and it’s working super well for them (The sales on them crush any Castlevania game). It’s good for the Japanese market that their new output is super successful there… means nothing for us over in the West though.

And unfortunately they still use those IPs in often nefarious ways so they probably aren’t giving those up either.

The reality is everyone needs to move on from Konami :face_with_diagonal_mouth:

Holy shit, that could almost give me a headache, haha.

For now we’re done here since like they say it could be tomorrow, next week, next week or absolutely nothing, lol.

Thanks
