Acquisition seems more secured in compare to before and other type of news.

They don’t really need to buy it, they should be able to create an event of their onw. Would be better also.

It’s simply a “gut feeling”. I consider myself pretty good at reading the room of the game industry… To gloat for a bit I correctly predicted Ghostwire selling 10k in Japan and Babylon’s Fall getting a red metascore. I have some reasons:

I just don’t think MS wants to deal with dismantling all the non gaming stuff out of any of these publishers. Buying these Japanese publishers is a way different process than a Western one. That only leaves Capcom and Koei Tecmo. Now is the worst time to buy Capcom. The premium would be immense. I don’t think MS wants to pay it. I think they’re fine getting all Capcom games multiplat which they have been since SFV with the exception of MH Rise which is a unique sort of case. Koei Tecmo I don’t think MS is interested in. Xbox still misses like half their games even. For all of these publishers I think MS will be fine with getting their multiplats.

It’s also the case that Zenimax and Activision were crazy good opportunities. A lot of Zenimax games were underperforming and it was a private company. Activision, well, you know the story there I think.

For Sony, none of them seem to provide the content they are looking for. At least not for the billions of dollars they would cost, and for Sony, that’s basically the entire acquisition budget.

Capcom doesn’t have a lot of non-gaming stuff, I guess it’s all gaming.

While true, I would like everyone else join in, publisher speaking. But if they can’t do that, then create their own. Make Xbox Fan Fest into their actual E3.

I mean everybody knews that Ghostwire will flop and Babylon’s Fall will flop :joy:

That should rule out a Take Two, and I even highly doubt Sony could even do that. CDPR is what I’d consider big too, or would they be under the same category as Obsidian, Ninja Theory etc? I don’t think so, right?

Yeah for sure but I went for the jugular on Babylon and said red metascore. That was a year before it was out. “Yellow score/medicore game” seemed to be the common sentiment before the truth hit.

Ghostwire was obviously primed to underperform but I went for a straight number and said 10k in Japan. It sold 10k in Japan.

Nonetheless this is just all my “gut feeling” stuff. I’m not a certified analyst or anything

I’ll eat crow if either of them snatch a major Japanese publisher or Kadokawa/FromSoft.

CDPR has a market cap of around 5 billion, so yes they are rather big.

Not sure why Ghostwire Tokyo would be assumed to sell well in Japan.

That’s like assuming a game based in America would automatically be flop proof in the American market. It’s just another game to the Japanese market, they probably don’t give 2 shits about it being set in Japan.

Well, Craig Miller did mention something big earlier this week, so I’m not sure it’s April fools.

Also, we have to remember that Geoff said some big deals were yet to be announced. He said that after Bungie. He could mean Xbox too or someone else but knowing him he meant Sony. I don’t think it’s nothing.

On the one hand we should expect the news because Sony said it themselves when they acquired Bungie. But on the other hand, whatever this rumour is, it seems like loads of people know, even Benji has heard of the name lol, so it could be a case of whispers going on.

History shows that Sony is very good at keeping acquisitions very close to their chest bar that time they leaked Bluepoint themselves lol.

Yep, and Geoff Keighley said big deals were still being made. Doesn’t confirm acquisitions necessarily, could be game deals too, but since he said this after Bungie I think it’s acquisitions. This time around there’s quite a few people now talking about it.

But on the other hand… Gregg Miller delayed his podcast for this, yet we still know nothing and tomorrow is April fools. Maybe in the weekend then?

So what’s your prediction?
