Pretty wild that Tunic and Cuphead DLC was announced back in E3 2018.

Edit: And Dying Light 2.

It’s only for 2022 TV models.

Tunic I think was a single dev and Dying Light sounded like it had a lot of dev troubles over the years so I can understand them

Cuphead im not sure what the issue is, maybe that art just takes a very long time to achieve but the main game took forever to come out as well

It’s their process. It’s entirely hand drawn on paper. No computer assistance except for coloring and no frame interpolation between states of the characters. Every individual frame is hand drawn, so every frame per second of animation is unique for every character and every effect.

From old article @ Cuphead: creating a game that looks like a 1930s cartoon - The Verge

Capturing that style — and doing it in a way that both looked and felt authentic — required a lot of work. It meant utilizing most of the same techniques that gave early Disney and Fleischer Studios cartoons their distinct look. The backgrounds in the game consist of watercolor paintings, while every frame of animation was hand-drawn on paper, before being inked and ultimately inserted into the game. The only part of the process that was digital was the coloring. “When we did our tests at the beginning, we hand-painted each cell and then we colored it digitally, and we did a comparison,” explains Moldenhauer. “There really was no difference. So that’s why we took the easy path.”

I tested Dragon’s Dogma today and Holy shit, I didn’t expect it to actually look very decent. Now this is only the beginning part of the game in the caved area but that looks fine, crisp too. And I did not expect 60fps.

Also, auto HDR really makes it shine extra fine, especially so the fire effects. I love auto HDR and (XGS) devs really should consider using that if they might not be able to have their own proper HDR.

Also
do I just suck or is this game pretty hard, even on normal? I got my ass handed to me by those nasty goblins. Maybe I got too greedy.

Bright Memory Infinite new trailer. Multi-platform. Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 5 and Switch. Will be playing in 60 FPS Ray Tracing Mode.

I know zero about Dragon’s Dogma. Is this an old game worth buying and playing in 2022?

For the 3 or so bucks right now, hell yes my friend.

I’ve been playing FF7 Remake. Enjoying it but the game feels so constraining after being used to playing more open ended WRPGs.

That’s JRPGs for you. I think JRPGs should (and probably will) follow Elden’s Ring’s template.

In fact I believe pure JRPGs are still stuck in 90s but with better graphics.

Just wanted to remember that Recore, dispite being rough around every of his aspects, is still one of my favourite experience on Xbox One. And I still hope than one day -and I know it won’t be tomorrow- Recore will have another chance.
