Well you wouldn’t want to scrap the work of 1500+ people who were likely working specifically on the last-gen efforts for such a long time.

Insiders were claiming it was next gen only so I dont think people were expecting 1500+ people to ever be working on a last gen version
This was a great breaking off point and now they are stuck working with these garbage consoles for who knows how long

I completely agree. They should have cut ties this year.
Also, I have no idea how many have been working on last-gen efforts, but considering it’s half their release platforms and likely the large portion of their consumers, it makes sense to suspect they put close to half the work force on it. They see the huge player base still on last-gen, unable to upgrade (PS players can’t find a PS5 anywhere), and don’t want to miss out on that huge revenue core.
Yeah… time to move on from the old shit.

I figured they would be ok with moving on since they’d still have Warzone 1.0 for last gen players, not to mention there’s plenty of Series S consoles out there and Warzone 2.0 will be supported for many years to come
I say this as someone who has neither next gen console yet, these old consoles are trash at this point

It is not about scrapping, the question is why to make old gen version in the first place if Warzone 1 exists and it is not transferrable to Warzone 2.

The code/engine in Warzone 1 is all but broken. It’s been an open secret for the last year or so.
But the thing is that they are also planning to support Warzone 1. So essentially they will support Warzone 1 (PS4/Xbox One/PC/BC), Warzone 2 (PS4/XboxOne/PC/XS/PS5)
They will need even more staff for COD

They’re trying to have their cake and eat it too.
Warzone 2 was never born to be an next gen only thing, it mainly due to how much of a mess Warzone 1 was from a coding aspect, it’s gone through 2 engine changes, whole bunch of mess coded on top of each other.
They’ll slowly reel back on Warzone 1 support as the majority of players leave it behind.
Hopefully Sunday along with Capcom’s Final Fight Remake.

Watched a video of a guy that lost his shit when Spider-man was announced for PC last week. Dude initially thought he was about to see Spider-man 2 trailer, clearly didn’t read the piece of text saying it was PC, so clearly not Spidey 2. Then he just lost it. He said fuck Sony, that he was about to cut the stream off, he was cussing at his followers and what not. He got so hung up on the fact that he was promised Spidey would not come to PC.
Truly, how can people, grown ups be this sad? You’d think it was a joke, but he was being serious. Imagine being this mad and sad that more people get to play the game. Years ago when Xbox E3 shows started to announce that the games were coming to PC too I was fine with it.
I really just don’t get it.

I genuinely enjoyed the first silent hill movie, it had excellent cinematography. I look forward to him taking another crack at it.
