Personally do not understand why you would set your expectations to rock bottom for Xbox’s summer showcase, as they have not done a bad one for some time now. They have at the very least been solid with the only iffy one the last couple of years being 2020, and that could be mainly down to Covid.
By all means keep expectations in check, but these moments are meant to get you excited, espeically when Xbox has been radio silent for six months now.
The point is that nobody tempers expectations for Playstation. Thus we have abandoned, Kojima, Konami, Square Enix & Capcom acquisition any day now etc.
Cloud gaming is a huge boon for Microsoft. It is a brilliant how they were able to bind their game to the whole Azure business. I want to hear that conversation betweenn Phil and Satya years ago.
They’re gonna just come out on stage and say, “sorry but we’re shutting down Xbox, thanks bye.” Then run off stage and tell everyone to leave the building as they will be burning it down in 10 minutes. Before they shut Xbox down they will charge all our credit cards max amount of dollars then dissolve the brand and act like it was never a thing.
I remember how they had hours of Zelda after that E3. It was too much and too long for me so I just switched but it was still very appreciated that they did this. I’d love if Xbox started doing that kind of stuff too. Say they got example a few games didn’t get the shine they deserved during the show, show more of them in a after show thingy. They had one last year, but the games just weren’t that interesting but that could be a whole different story this time.
The more Xbox moves away from only having one big show once per year the better. Slowly they have been changing some things here and there and I hope they keep building on that.
Looking at SF6 hype, I think we migth finally get the revival of fighting games among the general market. Because aside Smash and MK no other game became mainstream last gen.
So I hope when KI is out, it will look bonkers because people love that stuff. Also after all these years the new Tekken game might be coming too.
