Well, Square Enix stated later that they were not in any discussions. But I am 100% that some talks was happening. And still think that SE is a genuine possibility in 2024.

All this From talk we had today made me think of Phil saying he wanted a foothold in Japan. It seemed he was talking about Tango when he said that, but I was wondering, do we still expect Phil to go for another, potentially bigger Japanese studio?

Didn’t Xbox just get a game announced from Japan that was a big shock and didn’t launch on Switch, when they say they want a foothold in Japan or other places I don’t think he always means buying someone, I take it as just doing more of everything there.

One benefit of all these rumors for Sony partisans even if they turn out to be false is that they always tune up that certain percentage of the Xbox fandom who still have an inferiority complex about the brand.
