I just finished Dying Light and it’s a great game, so I’ll keep an eye on this one (probably far away from announcement from now :frowning: )

That’s not how businesses operates. You don’t tell the customers to go the platform of the competition.

I stick to Overwatch 2, COD22, COD(23 or 24), potentially Diablo 4 being multiplatform but everything else is gonna b exclusive.

Oh right. I don’t have Ultimate digitally on 360 but I have Last Round. I have them all physical and digital, can’t be bothered getting the discs out anymore since they’re under a huge pile of old games.

What the… :confused_wat:

Does anyone else like me feel like this generation will be insanely long. Won’t be surprised if next-gen is 2028

Probably because it does cost a lot of R&D money in building these consoles, if they can stretch out a generation with super good spec’d consoles from day 1 they would probably jump at it. It would be super interesting if one of the two try push out a new console before the other because maybe one has another idea and times seem different now.

Im loving Trek to Yomi and replaying Dead Space series in anticipation of my second most important game nexte year for me…dead space R (the first onr is obviously starfield u.u)

I know that the new tech junkies will hate it, but I hope that this generation is super long. Late gen games are usually really good compared to first games on the new gen.

I feel the opposite. They’re more likely to update to newer SOCs that are easier to make, its an added benefit that the performance increases as well.

Times are different and this generation has been crazy just in less than two years already. The landscape will change for sure. We might not even be needing next-gen exactly but will adopt the spec upgrade model, at least one of the manufacturers could. The line between generations was already blurred this generation.

Easily. Possibly with TES VI as Swan song for Xbox Series. In a extreme case it’s a next gen Xbox title, but that would mean BGS takes five years to make it. But who knows. Or cross gen by the way.

I mean that already happened in every generation

not really .

I’m talking beyond simple micron shrinks, more like new SOCs based on Zen 4 / RDNA 4.

The concept of generations will die out or will become akin PC - where we don’t have the concept of generations at all. Just outdated hardware, but everything is backwards compatibility.

With streaming becoming a norm, any device will become a next gen.

No problem for me, games weren’t so different on 8th gen than in 7th gen, maybe bigger open worlds, so I don’t care if they extend this gen for a long time (same with the Switch)

If you mean mid-gen upgrades then yeah very possible as well but the whole generation I think will be longer. Chip shortages and cross-gen took away from this generation’s time already so they could need to compensate that by extending the generation’s lifespan.

Same. I don’t know how bigger and more visually stunning we can realistically get. Feels like a point of diminishing returns

There’s such a huge disparity regarding RayTracing Performance between current-gen consoles and what will be releasing this year on Upper-End PC hardware, that prolonging consoles out to 2028 or beyond won’t be desirable.

Yeah, dying light 2 with all the RT features on is a night and day comparisson that of the console version for example, same for chernobyl (forgot the name of the game but it had to do something with that place and it also showed a big difference between pc and consoles)
