If they were not planning to support Xbox version, should not have released in the first place rather than leaving the game incomplete on the platform.
I stopped following DF when there was a game where they “kinda” forgot to test loading times. And it conveniently happened that Xbox Series showed better results (in another video by another guy). It feels that at launch they did more Xbox Series / PS5 / PC comparisons than now.
Oh, c’mon. Sony’s features are always glorified everywhere. it is always “yeah, it works on Xbox, but PS5 was smart doing this or that”.
Anyway, does not matter. With Game Pass reviews and tests do not matter on a long run.
I think you are forgetting about how long they were praising the Xbox One X for. They loved it, I don’t see Digital Foundry as a biased source for console technology reviews. If you want to see more Digital Foundry Xbox focused content maybe you should seek it out.
They’ve made multiple video praising Forza Horizon 5 as an example. If you want to see more YouTubers and influences making Xbox focused content you’ll just have to wait for titles like Starfield to release. There’s been a first party content drought for the past 6 months.
I think most of the games that skip Xbox have the same Furi developer reasons. To solve the issue, better for Xbox go back to the 360 method, hire some external developers to port any game skipped the platform for a similar reason, keep doing that till Xbox market share appeal devs and get enough priority to support it willingly.
Xbox market share is growing anyway and with Microsoft investment it seems short sighted just to ignore the platform. At least they are not burning the bridges. Yet.
Devs can’t and shouldn’t produce content if they feel they aren’t going to get a return, especially indie devs with extremely limited funds and resources
It’s just business and the game released on xbox at a time when xbox was near it’s lowest, im not really surprised
With xbox doing better and better all the time these days there’s a lot less chance of this happening now
I dont think this sort of thing is neccesary
People forget that not only was the xbox one hated from Day 1 and lost MS a lot of market share but it was practices back in the 360 days with indie devs that made jumping to the ps4 a very easy decision for those devs and basically skipped the xbox one entirely
Just look at supergiant, Bastion did pretty well on 360 I believe but after that they avoided xbox like the plague and it wasn’t until Hades that they finally came back, I think they actually thanked Phil in the credits so id say that bridge is well healed at this stage
But between better practices in place and xbox gaining back market share and selling better than ever, those devs have far more reason to support xbox now
But that’s the fine. The point is that devs released the game but left it incomplete on Xbox One (no DLC or upgrade) because it did not sell. If you released the game you kinda responsible for its support.
Nice!!! Was going to ask you if you received a review code for Eiyuden Chronicle Rising but low and behold, I have my answer. Looking forward to your review Jesse.
Chernobylite video had only PC / PS5 version comparison and Alex explained the reason why there is no Xbox comparison because he had limited time. So that’s true that PS video generates more clicks.
It will a long time before people will stop acting as if we are in PS4/Xbox One era still
Two evils combine into one
Actually now that I think about, most of the currently announced Capcom games have Sony marketing right? Sony got marketing on all japanese games basically from each and every publisher (aside partially Bamco).
Normally I don’t buy licensed anime games but this one interested me.
You would not infer this from the cover… But this is a vertical shoot-em-up game from MOSS. The creators of the RAIDEN series (also a shmup), of which had many Xbox launch exclusive entries (even got games on Back Compat)
(Raiden V was one of the very few Japanese Xbox One exclusives. I bought it to support that. It was later ported though)
So a shmup developer I enjoy making a game based off an anime I enjoy in a genre I enjoy… Had to get it lol
Best part is this supports English text on the JP version! Aksys is bringing it to the West this summer, but there isn’t really a reason to wait unless you just like having an English box art.
I can live with that. Better than the terrible prospect of Sony acquiring them. If Xbox can’t have them, second prize is an independent Ubisoft with Ubisoft Vault included in Game Pass.
Just saw a tweet that contained a RE thread from 2020. A rumor that Sony was about to acquire Zenimax and how Starfield was canned, all hands on deck for TES VI and Fallout remakes.
Lol. Good times. And folks right now genuinely believe Sony was about to, but passed on it. I think MS was in full talks with Zenimax by then, lmao.
