Huh. Feels like what people exaggerate Game Pass when making it sound evil.

Well, people will find a way to justify this by saying that “2 hours is enough”, “helps the developers” etc.

YIKES it’s probably never a good idea to force devs to do something like that, imagine suddenly being told you must make a 2 hour demo so Sony can sell it on their subscription services and you get nothing for it just more work.

Forcing developers to let people play their games for free. While PlayStation collects the money from the subscription required to test these games.

That’s incredible, they add value to their subscription, without paying anything to the developers for that value.

That’s basically stealing/blackmailing from the developers. Make it either free for all people or piss off with that shit.

If this is true, then I hope enough game devs and pubs bow out and simply won’t develop for the PlayStation platform at all. That should change Sony’s tune.

Something like this should be entirely optional, even for developers doing deals for PlayStation Plus Essential or even PlayStation Plus Extra Premium.

They did some game trials in the recent past so this is roughly what I’d expect, but hopefully they improve upon that system cause those game trials started from when you started to download the game - not when you started to play the game. It was a bafflingly poorly integrated system.

Does not surprise me in the least, because Sony.

I wonder if Sony is flexing their market share here, trying to “force” developers to do something.

Not the first timee though.

The 2 hour time limit does seem like it is Sony compromising with publishers since a lot of people were speculating it could be 10 hours like EA Play.

The issue with that was that 10 hours is getting into the territory that you cna outright complete some games and for others people might just get their fill - remember that the majority of games rarely have more than 59% of players completing them.

I think the indies might be day 1, but big third parties will be time trials.

Microsoft goes either with full Game Pass or not, so Sony potentially can get more third parties as demos.

The Xbox FR Twitter account has changed their bio to read “Le 4 mai, sur place, tu découvriras.” which roughly translates into “On May 4th, right here, you’ll discover.” and then this Tweet:

Lego Star Wars themed Xbox Series S incoming?

The irony is 2 hours playtime is enough to justify refund for your liking, yet this one can only be done via paywall.

Well, at least Sony might get a lot of new games day 1 in the highest tier (but demos only).

It is not good for developers of course, but just like with indies - why would Sony care if they have the market share and mainstream popularity?

Thank God I’m a Xbot lol It feels like Sony is doing everything nowadays to fuck the consumers, and now the developers as well

It’s basically a paywall refund system.

Edit: No surprise but people bash Game Pass for making it free. Why? Why not.

It’s free to try.
